Agree that Reese is what makes the show go but what we have is some change of pace episodes. You'd expect Reese to have trouble dealing with Carter's demise. Both Reese and Shaw have that deadpan delivery style. Shaw's character is supposed to be emotionally challenged. I enjoy all the myriad quirky personalities on the show. More Root please.

Thanks for the info about Camryn Manheim. Can''t believe I didn't recognize an actress who has been around as long she has but there it is. I have been enjoying Sarah Shahi as Samantha. I think her flat, affectless presentation of the character works because we never know when and against whom she is going to get medieval. Shahi and Amy Acker both attended SMU in Dallas. Many years ago my then girlfriend was a student at SMU so I was on the campus fairly frequently. Beautiful girls were everywhere, so I guess Shahi and Acker fit right in. smile.gif

A bit more info... Manheim was in 167 episodes of The Practice from 1997-2004. I probably saw at least 95% of them.

I do agree that Reese needs to be the central character (along with Finch), but let him mourn the loss of Carter for a while. Heck, he's lost the first love of his life, Jessica, then his CIA female partner was killed, and now Joss Carter. Like the Terminator, he'll be back... wink.gif

Shaw, I am not enjoying the scenes she is in.

Sure, he can have trouble dealing with it, but clever writting can him dealing with while actually doing something, not sitting in a bar for a whole episode.

The thing you have to wonder now is if there two machines - Harold's machine and the other guy's machine that really wasn't destroyed, which is the one that talks to Root. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

There are not two machines, they clearly talked about this and even his fake wife said she knows it was destroyed but the thing that remained was the hard drives. So the drives are out there somewhere and could be used if someone rebuilt the machine but they were not used because she is looking for the drives, not the machine.

Yes, that's what was said, by the lying bad guys. Still much room for typical POI misdirection.
Still open, just what is the looming threat that The Machine has mobilized it's "analog interface" Root to enlist Harold's team to counteract?
My bet is that it is NOT "Mam" and her team.

I notice they haven't had the usual intro since Carter died. Keeps a tickle in the back of my mind if things are as they seem. We'll see.

So out with HR and in with this new organization. Can't remember the name. I only had vague recollection of them when Finch said "they're back".

I would like to think that Lionel could knock some sense into John and I was cringing for a second when it looked like he might get the upper hand, but even in a drunken state, John should come out on top in a fight. Too bad they got interrupted.

Good fall finale. Left a lot hanging but not in a detestable way. Love this show. A lot to keep up with and probably the one I can recall the least, unfortunately.

i'm just waiting for Root to barge in the room to rescue Finch and Shaw, I'm sure she found a way to get out of the cage she was kept in

If the machine had told her to, she certainly would have. At the end of the episode, there were listed chances of survival listed for each of those involved: It looks bad for Finch, and extremely bad for Shaw. We can only assume that the machine will have to act to protect them. Finch is ADMIN after all.

Root will ask for John's help. Together they will do the rescue.

LOL - one of my all-time favorvite "lines".

I was thinking, since Root can't break out of that cage by herself, it would have to be John who breaks her out -- after threatening to put a bullet in her or break her bones, or something like that. Fusco successfully convinced John to come back. John is back but only to find Finch and Shaw missing. He will need Root to find where they are.
Are we sure that Finch locked Root back in the cage?
I saw him close the latch....but not sure he put the lock on it.

In any case, looking forward to the next episode.

Judging by the flashbacks to Harold's childhood, it appears he's always been interested in birds. Which is probably why he goes by the last name of Finch. And when he uses an alias it's always a bird, such as Wren. But has his real last name ever mentioned?

This show really goes wrong for me when it starts assigning emotions to the machine so Root really bugs me. More scenes with Shaw please!

And if I could put on my tin foil hat for a moment, it's interesting that this show and Continuum make people who have good aims (freedom of information, freedom from corporate control) do bad and violent things to make them and therefore their cause look bad. To those who have seen both shows, Liber8 = Vigilance although I have only seen like 6 episodes of Continuum.

That's what I thought but how do you destroy a hard drive, in a box, by stepping on it?
Those weren't hard drives, they were tape backups, you'll need to burn them or de-gauss them

(I know I manage tape backups and know what they look like LOL)

What's curious is how they knew he had the tapes there, and got 2 identical ones to replace with

Loved Root in this episode, she's extreme

How did Reese and Fusco get from Colorado to NYC almost instantly and how did they know where to find Finch? My SoD (Suspension of Disbelief) meter is being tested beyond repair.

TV travel car, it's the same method Jack Bauer used to get from downtown LA to anywhere in southern California in 10 mins, it takes a special fuel called BS. biggrin.gif

Yup. The nazis in breaking bad used it too, getting to Walter and Hank in the desert. smile.gifsmile.gif

Yes, Root is a Hoot!

Much of this ep made no sense, unfortunately, If "they" knew (at least 3 separate groups) what and where the backups were, why not take them last week, or last year? Vigilance expected the Control team (somehow) and mostly let themselves be mowed down.

I fear that this show will be derailed by Edward Snowden. The writers want to include current events so badly that they forgot all about continuity and common sense.

We don't know at what time their scenes were taking place. If it was the day before, days before, etc. Plus they could of hoped on a flight and gotten back in a few hours.

I hope Root saved the piece of bone from her ear so Bear can re-implant it for her.
