I think you're spot on. It would be MUCH more involving and suspenseful if he was more vulnerable, emotional, and sensitive. Right now he's more like invisible robot just going through the motions.

I'm kinda reminded of Tom Cruise in "Collateral" when watching this show........

I thought I was the only one thinking along this line. He is like the terminator. He is also as charming as the terminator. Nothing could touch him, not even the law. Remember we are talking modern day NYC here. He was doing surveillance on a bad guy and out of nowhere he drove in this rig into their car. Amazingly no one was killed. This shows makes Burn Notice looks like a gem.

But the lack of discussion here on the board says something about Person (i.e. Lack) of Interest, me thinks.

Saw about 1/2 of it before going to sleep and liked what bit I did catch. It was good to see the hero is not totally invincible..

Liked this episode and I liked how he struggled with the bad guy and it wasn't a quick take down/kill.

The laundromat scene was good because if he kicked everyone's butt it would get boring quickly. The backstory on Emerson's character gets more and more interesting. Remember, they think he's dead too and they're fleshing it out slowly.

I am not familiar with Caviezel's other work, but at times the monotone mumbling delivery is annoying only because I have to crank up the sound to hear his lines.

About the laundromat, yes he shot the bad guy, why he wouldn't confirm the kill? that was almost a fatal mistake..

Emerson does that crying voice so well.. perhaps he talks like that in real life..

Episode 2 was a lot better then the pilot.

I like the cat and mouse game between nerd and superhero guy.

He didn't want to lose track of the girl. The girl was his priority.

I thought the exact opposite .. 2nd episode did not really leave me wanting more .. Pilot did ..

I'm not throwing in the towel just yet though ..

Good show. Plenty of opportunities to set up arcs as well as standalone episodes.

You work in this tiny cubicle, and no one here knows that you own the entire company?

The best place to hide is in plain sight.

Compared to Joseph Fiennes, Caviezel is a loud mouth.

They really missed a big oppurtunity. That whole Emerson working as a regular employee while he actually owns the company, that should of been stretched out and they could of had some great moments from that. Heck it could of been its own show.

I have found "Interest" to be the best of the new fall shows. At least it has kept my interest. I'm in for the season - and I cannot say that about any of the other new shows I've seen.

As far as the broadcast networks, this, Up All Night on NBC & FOX's Terra Nova are the only 3 new shows our house jumped into. Concur that of those 3, the topic of this thread is the best.

Person of interest =yeah i'm on board, acting great, production valves good ,plot can have many twists & turns to work with . beats the Crap outta the Best Cop shows on right now ...I loved how he got that bad cop to work for him .. that was great !

I enjoy the superhero bum show. They both going to die soon operating like this.

Heck we almost lost the dork in the 2nd episode.
I thought tonights episode was ok. It looks like it may be leveling out and becoming an average show.

Ratings info is interesting for teh show after 3 weeks. #2 in it's time slot, but #4 in the time slot for 18-49. Much like Blue Bloods it's skewing to an older audience.
I am really enjoying this show so far. I like both leads, and they are doing a good job with the characters. I doubt either one of those characters would be too unhappy about dying. They are just trying to do some good before they go. I hope they come up with something more interesting for the detective to do than trail after them, being a pain in the neck.

Well after only a week absence(and removing one of my conflicting programs) I recorded and watched the last episode. I'll have to say I liked it better than the pilot and have now set up a season pass
I also record Blue Bloods and am not in the 18-49 demo.

Third episode was better than the second, so I have put this on my watch list.

It is on CBS after all, so what did you expect? The unimaginative templated safe network which only knows how to / is willing to do crime fighter dramas.

They absolutely should have continued with that scenario. A brilliant concept cast away in the rush to throw pretty much anything up against the wall to see it it sticks. That stuck, but it got pulled down.

Show is mediocre at best but I like the actors and their contrasts.

I think tonights show might have been the best so far. The detective is still annoying, but it looks like he may have found a way to keep her in check.
