The cops/FBI or whatever identified the 2 bodies(parts) as Cara Stanton and Mark Snow. There was no time for a setup, so I'm pretty sure that "She's dead, Jim".

Agreed - don't think they would be that explicit if they wanted us to think otherwise.

I'm not so sure she is dead. I rewound my DVR to see that scene over again. First they show them both in the car. Then they have a view outside of the car. There is a picture glitch in the replay of the video as seen from outside of the car. Knowing these shows like I think I know them, they could use that glitch in a future show to say she got out of the car just in time and the mysterious guy she was working with managed to blank out of the video her escape. But i'm just guessing.

It just reminds me so much of the original scene they kept doing a flash back on where she was about to be blasted by a rocket. The next scene they show the rocket blasting the site. Now we learn she was severely injured. But no burns to the face. I don't trust these shows to kill off a good character. And she was good. She had that cold, hard, non feeling attitude that POI thrives on.

She isn't the only "bad guy" in the show. If she is indeed dead, there are others we already know of that can take her place. Biggest one is ROOT.

Agreed. Annie Parisse, who played Cara Stanton, is now a regular or at least a semi-regular in The Following. I suspect that had a lot to do with her being written out of Person of Interest.

And she has that creepy look in that other show too...

I'm also betting she's toast on this one.. (literally)

I liked the backstories much better than the main plot last night. I guess it had to do with the character being so unlikeable in the main plot. But it did get kind of interesting when he figured out who John and Harold were.

Yeah and he almost outsmarted Harold... with the expensive watch..

My interpretation of the presence of the GPS transponder Harold found in the expensive Watch Pierce had given to Reese was that Pierce didn't know about it. After Harold broke open the watch and picked up the transponder, a graphic appeared on the screen which said:
That wasn't a model of clarity but I interpreted it to mean that "Admin," whoever that is, had been using the GPS transponder to keep tabs on Pierce.

I disagree. Harold immediately knew to check it and did so.

"Threat to Admin" should mean Harold. He is the Admin of "The Machine". Thoughts?

Hadn't thought of that but it is a real possibility. That's why I said the graphic about the GPS wasn't a model of clarity. Your theory is supported by there there having been the moving boxes, which we see when we are shown The Machine at work, shown at the same time as the THREAT TO ADMIN graphic. I'm sure we will get what is really going on revealed soon.

I gathered that "Threat to Admin" also referred to Harold.

I also liked Bear's backstory. Awwww. Bear was depressed and needed a friend. How cute.

In a previous episode, and I don't remember which one, it was made clear that Harold is Admin. It was also pretty obvious that Bear just needed a little nookie

This was a great follow up to last weeks episode. It showed that there are other smart people out there that can go toe to toe with Harold and potentially become dangerous.

This was a "set up episode" for the next arc. They are setting up a lot of threads to finish out the season. Other than ROOT, there are no threats against John and Harold. If they go back to the "number of the day" the audience will lose interest. Been there, done that. The show has evolved into do the numbers in spite of what else is going on. That is what makes it interesting.

If Finch is a multi-millionaire, why can't he afford a new board to post the pictures on that isn't all cracked and busted?

Yep, several episodes have shown the machine refers to Finch as "Admin".    People need to pay attention a little better.  ;)

My take on the message from the machine is that the machine recognized the GPS tracker (watch) that Finch placed in his hand as a threat , then notified Finch thru his ear piece & Finch responded by stepping on the watch .
Reese also knows/trained that gifts are to be taken with the thought of suspecting a trojan horse & that is why he handed it off to Finch . Reese has Never accepted gifts, payment . The only payment he did accept was forwarded to what he felt were victims .
That's how I took all that in , Finch & Reese have a set of rules for security & accepting a item of any kind that could be traced is forbidden

If Finch didn't immediately recognize the watch as a GPS, etc. Trojan Horse WITHOUT help from the machine, I've lost all respect for his intelligence. First thing I thought of. Consider the source from whence it came.

You'd be hard pressed to stomp even a cheap $50k Rolex into giving up what's inside it. I tried it on mine and it is still ticking away.

He's cheap, the same as most rich people are, that's why they are rich. Deep pockets, money goes in and never comes out.

Finch owes Reese a $2M watch IMO. Could have just taken it to a watch repairman, opened it up and removed the tracker. I know stomping on it was more dramatic, but what if there had been no tracker. Hey, that would have been even cooler if he had smashed it and found no tracker.. lol

I take it as a metaphor for the show's premise.

POI rarely fails to surprise. Out fraking standing episode. I had suspected that Root was the secy when they failed to show her face earlier in the show, then recognized her voice. Paige Turco seems perfect for John. Glad to see he's getting some needed R&R.

Good to see Mia Maestro again. And another very good episode.
