I am now looking for new surrounds. Besides the jbl cinemas any ideas? I want to avoid the x- curve in cinema speakers.
Im working on a good coaxial surround build that perhaps you might be interested in. using emminence 10's and the apt-50 tweet. It should be done by next weekend and Ill have my impressions up
I want you guys to get on my case if I ever decide to sell the F-20's for performance reasons. They are incredible and would just be stupid to get rid of them. Maybe if I needed more room for mains but I can make these T-39's fit. Yes, I do have the T-39's, I have 4 DR-200's and 4 T-39's. 2 T-39's are 20 inch wide and 2 are 30 inches wide. The 30 inch wide are causing the fitting issues. I have to get some speakon connectors at lunch. I may also need more amplification.
At some point you will keep the design idea but will maximize the drivers inside. Lets face it, the MFW-15 was just a very, very low cost choice that peforms well but if you seek ultimate performance, you still are not there
I still need to build some F-20s to compare but I just picked up 2 more AV15Xs so Im now about 5 projects away

Define ultimate performance. I have not yet seen a greater than 110 dbs at 10hz required for a movie scene, even less at 5hz. This means these F-20's in my room can handle any movie scene at reference. They move tons of air with very little power. I might still put in a high x-max driver once Lilmike gives the OK to one so I will have even more 5hz-10hz headroom. I really like the design.

I can't wait to see the results of this build.
MK, you know you're going to eventually build, or have built, 4 sealed, dual opposed 18" beasts... And I can't wait to see what your room does with them.
I think both MK and I are waiting on the DIY Rotrary build/results. Im pretty sure we will be adding something like that
For me quad F-20s + Rotrary sub would be amazing along with unmatched performance/$$$. I have several 15" subwoofer drivers ready to be hacked apart too

Bingo!!!!! The rotary gets 110dbs from 1-20 hz which is enough for reference for now or until someone actually records a 0DbFs 10 hz scene.
I'm close with 18 speakers but got ya with 12 subs lol
The wife just rolls here eyes now. Just wait till she sees the bill for the new projector, screen and 2 new amps hehehehe!
I just realized suffer from the same addiction as the rest of you, 18 speakers and 23 subs waiting for enclosures after the move. To top it off I have 18 channels of amplification, 25 if you count a receiver's amps. When you move you really find out how much you actually have. the scary part is I want to buy more speakers, I need to enroll in a AA, Audio Anonymous

As long as you can afford the hobby this is a fairly cheap hobby. I like to customize my diesel engine and that is always 10x's more expensive than my audio hobby. But then again I am not looking at Krell either.

lol, lucky you do not have about 35 drivers sitting in your garage along with empty speaker boxes, extra amps and so on.
Just think what kind of "Swap meet" we could have together

I have too many other hobbies though so the audio costs add up. I hear you on the cars. This old porsche i've been fixing up for a few years is a money pit. I keep having "while im in there" syndrome where I end up fixing every little thing instead of just taking it off the jack stands and driving it.
Fortunately I'm still single so I don't have to worry about any WAF or finances passing inspection. As long as my budget looks good to me, I'm in the clear.
So are you guys counting each speaker or pairs of speakers! jK! I use to have a ton, as I use to work for a dealer. I have now narrowed it down to only a few that "My Ears" truly like.
Dynaudio
Joseph Audio
Dali
Martin Logan
Gallo for small sub compact speakers
Subs I am all over the map

If you are going to count loose drivers, then Penn will have all of us beat. I think he collects drivers like some people collect wine.
My speakers are all in one room which is 2100 cubic feet. They are also being used for now. I only want 7 speakers and 4 subs.
What you really need to build is a carousel system for your speakers. That would save you a ton of time in the long run. Every month you would just need to load it up with the various speaker candidates and then you would be able to automatically rotate the desired speakers into position.

Looks like I will be getting the BFM DR-200/T-39 towers up and running tonight with my new mic measuring!!! Look for results late night as usual. Oh yeah, for Maxmercy, I will take pics of the front stage and left overs. If you guys want great speakers for a good price let me know. The Triads and M&K smaller speakers make great surrounds. The Triads are almost too nice for just surround duty. Triads go for $300 each and the M&K's $200 each. BTW guys, the new Ada processor is just awesome!!! I like tweaking myself and it's PEQ works just great. It is pricy though but I am a sucker for their gear.
Suggestions please! I have 4 BFM T-39's and they are different in widths. 20 inches and 30 inches. I am using them as my bottoms(50-200hz) to my DR-200's. The question is should I use 2 30 inch T-39's(mains) with a 20 inch for a center or use the twenty inch for the mains with one 30 inch for center? The differences between the 30 inch and 20 inch are the 30 inch should have a higher sensitivity.

I have always liked ADA pre-pro's as well but haven't got into there HDMI line yet. Do you have a good source for ADA?
