How about in room response? Would that make the Cap useful to say the mid-teens?
Running a vented sub without a highpass filter and then claiming you get incredible "in-room" extension is an old one. It's not intended to do this, it isn't a magical way of circumventing physics, and it certainly isn't useful output.
Unless you consider distortion useful output. From Luke, a link you quoted:
"He has them right in front of you facing and with 20hz test tone it develops audible port distortion well before the ep4000 or driver was out of juice. We also plugged the ports for 16hz tune and could induce port distortion with 16hz tone easier."
After adding highpass filter:
"To me after adding in mic2200 the bass sounded excellent. I didn't hear any port involvement with material and seemed to have better balanced presentation."
In any case, MK is after two whole octaves below what the Captivator is designed for; I don't care what room you stick it in it's not going to get the job done.
And trust me, you try running the Captivator without a highpass filter and run it full tilt like MK does, reference plus a hot LFE... you're asking for trouble.
