Film and HD video use different anamorphic ratios. I'm guessing that's a 2x film lens rather than a 1.33x video lens. Assuming it's even large enough to use with your projector, it would end up stretching the picture too wide.

The key point to be aware of is the 2x stretch factor. That 2x not only blows the 16:9 out from 1.78:1 to 3.56:1, the pixels are also now stretched from a 1:1 square to a 2:1 rectangle. 1.33x lenses expose jaggies, so the 2x would be way worse. It is not all doom and gloom though because with the right customizable scaling, you could use this lens with a 1.33:1 projector resulting in a 2.66:1 image.
