I was looking at a thread over at home theather shack and found some interesting info..
The uk 980t version of this television is full array backlit and if you look at this link in specifications and then look at display options you will see 288 blocks of local dimming zoness so all is good and this info we alll knew

However as has been pointed out over at home theater shack if you look at canadas lg website for the 9800 tv that we are getting for the usa you will see something different
go to the features section and go down bout half way and read
Brilliant EDGE LED backlighting display delivers crystal-clear images, true blacks, and the most vivid, life-like colors on a slim screen.
Then you will see a picture with the leds around only the edge of the tv
Then if you go to the specifications section for the 9800.. the info on uk lg site bout the 288 blocks and local dimming technology is missing

Now i ask what the heck is goin on here is the usa getting and edge lit version of the uk and korean full array or what ??
