I was assuming it would be Warner, but the preorder page says Paramount. We'll see.

Walmart exclusive?

From what I've read Paramount now holds the rights and that's why WB hasn't released MFL. Question is whether the 70mm ratio of 2:20 will be utilized vs 2:35 that was on the dvd

Paramount did a terrific job with AFRICAN QUEEN, so my hopes are high.

It's now Paramount.
Warner lost the rights.
this is coming November 15th according to "another" site.

Would be lousy if they released a lossy soundtrack for this lovely musical.

Just to make sure, were you being sarcastic, or did you miss the fact that a lossless track has already been confirmed?

Has anyone been able to find this Bluray in Canada?

Am I crazy, or is it not available here except on Amazon.ca?

No indications of MFL in my area, no HMV, FS, Walmart or BB listings. I asked at the local HMV if there was a date and it was not even listed in the database.

Thanks to your (WebEffect) post, I saw it listed on Amazon and ordered, should be shipping any minute now. I thought I saw it listed on Amazon last week but with a shipping in 6 -8 weeks notice..I do not know what changed unless they are "US copies" and "CAN copies" are indeed coming later....

Funny, I was just mentioning in the FACE OFF thread that MY FAIR LADY isn't even on the HMV website. I'm mystified.

I got one at Costco this week for $18.99.

I hadn't seen this one in years, and I was pleasantly surprised by how good it looks. Watching older/classic films like this on Blu-ray can be a lot of fun.

Given I had read in other reviews this was an old transfer I was a little concerned about this first Blu-ray release. I was more than pleased. Not all scenes are the same, especially with soft filters being used in some scenes, but scenes with lots of contrast like Higgins study is as good as it gets. Sound was excellent also. Recommended. Also Audrey Hepburn looks incredible for you younger folks you may not aware of what a true star really is.

I sent mine back to Amazon so they can throw it in the dumpster where it belongs. What a horrific joke this disc is.

Any objective reviews out there?

Objective? Reviews? By their nature, reviews are, of course subjective. However, this disc is not good. It's taken from from a 35mm element prepared years ago - not from the 65mm element. There's an informed thread about all this at the HTF.

Yes, it's a pathetic shame. If they'd spent $0.50 on a new transfer, this could/should be one of the best-looking BD releases ever.

I dunno. I wouldn't say the disc is "not good." It actually looks quite nice, and sounds excellent. It can definitely look much better, I agree, with a higher resolution scan from the 65mm. I fully expect that in the coming years, but the current disc will do nicely in the meantime.

I finally got around to watching WHITE CHRISTMAS on blu. Wow! Now that's a terrific transfer.

This disc doesn't even pass muster as a good transfer of a 35mm element.

After reading some of the complaints about MFL, I decided to rent before buying. I figured since I'm not as critical as some, it would probably be fine.

I was wrong.

The fading on the sides, especially in darker scenes is so bad I thought it was defective. Between that and noticable color fluctuations, and Robert Harris' report that we are only seeing about 30%-50% of the resolution, this release is bad and an insult to those who work hard to restore this film.

CBS should be ashamed of the lack of respect and poor treatment of this release. Needless to say, they are not getting my money unless they release a proper transfer.

Frankly, I'm surprised there hasn't been more discussion about this here. There certainly has been alot of discussion about this in Robert Harris' thread over on HTF.

how come AVS doesn't have a review of this disc? The online reviews of this are wildly inconsistent - anyone else want to chime in their impressions of the bluray - from what I've read, I don't think I'll be too pleased with the transfer that CBS Home Video did.
