The only thing I got out of that translation was that his family was somehow involved (his brothers), he is visually impaired, both the Sharp and the Optoma come from the same headquarters and the projector destroyed him. Oh yah, he also announced Optoma's newest technology called "plug."

I think it is safe to say, at this point in time, Guitarman is the only English speaking reviewer in the entire world to actually review this projector and post it on the internet. I've scoured the search engines, he is it.

Yep, that sounds about right!!!! Hopefully a "3D" shootout with the sharp ----IN ENGLISH--will happen in the near future as that is the only thing that is keeping me from pulling the trigger one one of these puppies.

Now that I have it installed in my home I can run better tests and better pictures. I've made arrangements to buy this HD3300 and two pairs of glasses. More to follow. Contrast and blacks look good to me on 2D stuff and way way better when watching 3D
Time to hit Blockbuster for a bunch of 3D stuff, Xbox 360 Crysis 2 should be interesting.

Awesome! Did you buy just for 3D or will you use this for 2D movies as well?

So what are the real differences between the HD3300 and the HD33? The longer warranty, black case and....?

Yes, but placing a ND2 filter on and off each time you want to go back and forth between 2D and 3D would not be a good option for most people. Especially with a ceiling mounted projector.

Sorry to pick on your content selections again, but Crysis 2 may not be a good choice for 3d gaming. It is not real 3d. If you have a Playstation 3 try Motorstorm 3d rift. Only 10 bucks for the download on Playstation Network. Another cool option is on the Xbox 360 arcade called 3d Infinity.

For 3D and 1080p 2D movie watching, 1080i HDTV from comcast looks snappy also. The differences between the two is the 3yrs PJ 2yrs lamp warranty and Day/Night ISF modes plus the black color and black remote. That kind of warranty is worth a few hundred or more if something was to happen.

Can't wait to let this 3D stuff start rolling. My wife said get it, get it now, it is nice and adds an extra level of fun to HT viewing.

Remember I started this Optoma thing rolling with my first review of the H30. I paid $1400 for that VGA 800/600 pixels HT projector. It had the RGB/RGB wheel and 12 degree chip so I knew it would be great and it was. Now look what you can.

First I'm renting a bunch of stuff just to take a look. I thought Alice in Wonderland looked great though I heard it's not good. It can only get better from here.

According to the Optoma website, the HD33 is advertised at 4000:1 contrast and 1800 ANSI lumens while the HD3300 is advertised at 5000:1 contrast and 1900.

Not sure if they just squeezed a little more horsepower out or what the deal is, but it makes me want the HD3300 more. Not sure until reviewed if the differences in numbers will actually make a difference.

You should buy the HD3300 just for the warranty and ISF modes, maybe the black color that's why I'm buying it. Picture wise I'd bet they're about the same.

Never was any with 3D just spotted a glimpse with 2D and the 6x silverstar. 2D on the 1.0 gain setup I couldn't see any. I think it was the 6000 lumens with the silverstar that made me catch a couple. Use the online optoma screen calcultator that will get you close. My setup is lens 11' 7" away from a 106" diag screen and it fits the width ok.

Thanks . I have limitation on throwing distance and very sensitive with rainbow effect . I can spot rainbow easily on Optoma 720p 3D pj when playing 3D movies .

I really think the 6x gain of the silverstar is the problem. I never saw rainbows on any DLP I've owned until I got the Silverstar. I mean man 6.0 gain is huge, that's 6000 lumens ouch with the HD33/3300 for 2D. 3D with the glasses tames down that blaring brightness. A 1.0 gain at 1400 lumens 3D and 1000 for 2D is more manageable.

No I got it straight from their Engineer designer it's a RGB/RGB 6x speed wheel. That's why the color is so good plus the speed will help limit any rainbows. Really they're gone on this 1.0 gain setup, the new pictures are from this setup.

Maybe the review from taiwan makes a mistake and I really hope so . Or could be HD33 4X and HD3300 6X speed??

For those who are interested;

I remain a little confused about home 3D technology, so a couple of questions. Does the included RF Emitter (for 3D) get connected to the PJ? And, will the cheaper DLP LINK glasses work with this PJ? For these, the manufacturer's site says "No transmitter is needed". So, both Optoma and these glasses are active shutter, but these just don't need something in between?

Great pictures guitarman ! Please add pictures from other movies too

Also where can you buy the HD3300 ? Its not listed on Amazon.

BTW, a 3 year square trade warranty on a $1500 PJ costs around $150 and also i am not sure if i will ever need to replace a bulb within 2 years as i dont expect to watch anything but movies on the PJ. So not sure if HD3300 is worth the extra $500 price tag...thoughts ? (i dont know what ISF modes are and not sure i will need to use them given how perfect your pictures already look with HD33)
