I bought hd33 and I am impressed by pq quality so far but have a problem with judder/trash on 3D... I downloaded Avatar Half SBS( i own an original blu ray but no 1.4 hdmi cable yet) and when I put 24p and play it over the PC the screen is flickering and there is a lot of judder every second or so, its unwatchable... I thought the problem was in PC so I used my media player but its the same... Tried Resident Evil 3D and its similar situation... I though the problem was with denon avreceiver which passes through video over HDMI but its not... When i turn off 24p its OK but even in 60hz its showing some judder every now and then... What could be the problem? I am getting 1.4 hdmi cable next week and will try bluray 3D over PS3...

That's a good deal, the projector puts out a clean colorful 2D image then you get the 3D as a bonus. Have fun

I had to go back to the JVC for 2D.

But for 3D, this baby is UNBEATABLE.

Took the plunge today and order the HD33 from Coscto. They sale it now at a good price and include 2 pair of glasses and a 2 year warranty. To accompany that I bought the Panasonic 210.

Cant wait to see it compare to my Sharp Dt-400 720p from 2005

It's not listed on their website. What's the price for the set?

Nevermind, I see you're in Canada and found it on costco.ca

which screen is better? 1.1, 1.8 or 2.x gain for HD33?

I assume there are plenty of people using this PJ (HD3300) with a PS3, so I thought I would post a rather odd problem I am having here and see if anyone has any ideas.

The PS3 menu screen color is off (way off), everything has a very red tint.
Every game I have tried has the same red tint.
Most blu ray discs seem ok, but today I put in IMAX deep sea in 3d and the color was way off (red). I took that out and put in Pirates of the Carribean in 3D and the color was fine (but the movie was still awful).

Anyway, I have tried multiple high speed HDMI cables (all new), I've bypassed the AVR and gone directly to the PJ on both HDMI inputs with no change.

I took the PS3 downstairs, and using the same HDMI cable hooked it up to my 5 year old Sony LCoS and the menu system come up fine (black background like it's supposed to be). Back up the theater room and it's red.

FYI - HD and 3D from the DirecTV box have not been an issue (HDMI through the 1.4 AVR), 1080p from the XBOX over component to the AVR has not been an issue either. It is only from the PS3, it is only the menu system, games and some blu ray discs.

I've tried just about every "display" setting on the PS3 and nothing seems to kill the red tint.

Anybody have any ideas?

black -

i've used two different PS3's with my 3300 and never had an issue like that. seems very strange especially given the troubleshooting you've done.
This is a head scratcher. This is one of the old big PS3's, but it is networked and has all of the updates.

The fact that it will play some bd's and not others is the really odd thing. I know the PJ will display 3d and 1080p, I just don't get why sometimes things come up shifted so red from the PS3 only.
are you using a receiver to switch the hdmi, and if so, what brand?
Yes, it's an Onkyo 709. However, I have gone directly to the PJ bypassing the AVR and there is no change.

that's funny i'm using a 709 too.

given the troubleshooting you've performed this is definitely an oddity. with the red you are mentioning it almost sounds like it is going into DLP-link 3mode for some reason. check the menu settings of the optoma next time you see the red on the ps3 and see if it is for some reason in 3d mode.
It is not, I tried cinema, reference, bright and user and they're all red. 3d is greyed out and not selectable.

Yes it's red bias but the optoma glasses add green to balance out the grayscale.

guitarman, this is happening with 2D games. It's not a 3D only issue, but I will agree that it looks like it is trying to display content from the PS3 in 3D whether or not it is actually 3D content.

I guess I can go pick up another PS3 and see if it does the same thing and return it if it does. I played some CoD Black Ops in 3d the other night and it was fine. All of these other problems started happening after that. Now CoD Black Ops in 3D is very red shifted as well (even with the glasses on).

That happened to me as well when I do testing. I plug and unplug a couple of time and then the image is getting a pink'ish color.*All I do is on/off and I'm good to go

Now my IMAX BD color is correct, but it will not play in 3D. There was a message that it did not detect a 3D display, and it is coming up in 2D.
I'm getting pretty frustrated...

When you setup the display resolutions in the PS menu, did it let you select 3d tv, and what size of screen? I had to do that after I had the projector hooked up. Everything worked fine then.

Easy fit in that room. Check Optoma's site for the projector calculators offset so you can get the center number the lens center needs to be, plus the distance. It's easy I'm no genius and I can do it. I lied about the genius part.

Just curious.......Why would anyone not test what they got in case it's a lemon or you may have other issues and your return window expires ?
Hello everybody. I'm new here. I've bought the hd33 2 weeks ago. It looks awesome with any kind of contents (divx, bluray 2d&3d, 2d games and 3dtvplay from nvidia). All content... BUT one: the desktop of my computer or any others pages with small characters where you clearly see that I cannot get an even focus on the total area of my screen. At some place, it is sharp, at other place it is blurry. Has anyone noticed something similar? An uneven focus all over the screen?

Thank you.
