Mine just asks me to purchase a sub. or to login with my directv.com username and pword.

I just spoke to Sony Customer Serv. and what they told me is 3mbps is just the minimum bandwidth feed requirement to recieve HD it goes higher regarding ones internet provider and connection...

They also mention that they test drove it with the last Thursday preseason games and that the hd quality rivals and betters the mlbtv feed...

OK Cool. Maybe there will be some sort of red zone channel for Thursday even though its a National Game?

I got that message too. You're good to go for the season. If the username/password is incorrect it will tell you that it was an invalid username/password.

Did they say what the upper end of that bandwidth stream would be? It needs to be at least 6M if they are using H.264 to provide an acceptable PQ. The preference would be 8M to align with what DirecTV provides over satellite to their customers. I have a 24M connection so it should be good up to their maximum.

Red Zone Channel are for games only played that start at 10am PT/1:05pm PT/1:15pm PT on Sundays. Games on national tv (ESPN, NFLN, NBC) are not featured on RZC.

I just figured because they said See You Sep 8th that maybe they were doing something for the game. Or maybe something will show up on Thursday as far as menus, schedules etc,

Has anybody been denied based on their ability to receive a satellite signal?

I'm 99.5% sure that is only asked in order to prompt you to order their full satellite package if you are so inclined. There is absolutely no way DirecTV could have built in that kind of qualification logic into their systems.
I thought the change this year was removing the qualification of not being able to receive satellite service. They wanted to make this an option for everyone ala MLB.TV and NBA League Pass etc.

Yeah, they're definitely not checking to see if you qualify. They do have a cap on the number of users they'll allow to buy this though.

Maybe that is why this has been so poorly marketed? I haven't seen one advertisement from DirecTV or Sony, just one press release and a blog entry this morning on the Playstation site. Talk about not wanting the word to get out.

Just got an email from PSN advertising it, that would be a lot people they're reaching.

most of this thread was a worthless read about peoples thoughts on the pricing.

im stuck without a dish because im in a condo building with a bad view. I am willing to pay 340-350 for NFL-ST. end of story so please no one get into a debate about the value equations involved.

my question:

If I order NFL ST To-Go via Dtv's website for $350 one time fee(available since I cant get service).. will this also allow me to use it on the PS3?

I know that if i purchase straight through the PS3 for $340 over 4 months I cannot get access on ipad/web/etc... thats coming from direcTVs website. It does not explain it the other way around though... if I have web access without a DTV subscription will that allow me PS3 access?

I called CS but i got conflicting answers. anyone have experience with this?

Thank god you brought it up again then. It hasnt been mentioned in weeks.

Still can't believe they're making people blind-purchase it without any indication of the quality of the feed. How hard would it be to set up a sample loop that people could view prior to purchase?

Anybody see the feature to do the "game mix"? Where you can put 4 games on the screen at once? Its available on the PC for Sunday Ticket on the go, but dont see it on the PS3 App yet.

If it's anything like the MLB package you're given 7 days to try it and cancel for a complete refund. Baseball plays almost every day though so I'm not sure how that would play out with NFL games.

Been reading the PS3 blog for the NFL App and the Sony employees are ignoring all the questions inquiring about being able to see the quality of the stream prior to purchase. They are clear though that once you pay, you will NOT get a refund regardless of the quality of the stream. So best bet to wait and let someone else be the guinea pig.

That would definitely be my plan of action, especially given how problematic the MLB app was when it first came to the PS3. If I recall, it wasn't even working in any sort of reliable fashion until the first season was over halfway completed.

Sony isn't providing the game feeds so that is expected. Their only part of the deal was allowing the app and integrating the payment system. My guess is they want no part in any of the network issues that are bound to crop up and will leave all of that up to Directv.

If it's not on the iPad app, I'm not sure you would be seeing it on the PS3 either. Maybe they will update the app as the year goes on but I'm more focused on the stream quality for one game I will be dealing with come Sunday than watching multiple games at once.

On the Sunday Ticket PS3 faq, it directs Directv customers to the 1800 number for live Directv support. If you're a user that purchased it from PSN, you're directed to a website if you have any problems. That wouldn't fill me with much confidence.

I'am hoping for a good mp4 encoder for a constant reliable feed, much better than mlbtv nex def and a good high bitrate for those of us with a good internet service.(3mbps is the min. for Hd)

Also I hope they add the Game Mix channel with up to 4-8 games on one screen and also Fantasy tracker to keep tabs on your players...

Oh!!! and their servers better be beefed up as of this coming sunday ,that thing is going to get a workout and Directv's and Sony's reputations are on the line.

Go look at ESPN3.com. Its skips and pixelates. The only reason I watch it is because its free. Definately not worth paying for.

Sunday I'll be watching these games for free on the best source of HD available which is OTA HD.

1:00
Pittsburgh @ Baltimore CBS
Atlanta @ Chicago Fox

4:15
NY Giants @ Washington Fox

8:30
Dallas @ NY Jets NBC

I think ESPN3.com being free is part of the reason is hit or miss on the streaming quality, this is far from free so there is a higher expectation of quality.

Good for you. If you are a Falcons fan you have no need for Sunday Ticket unless you just want the option to watch any game. I loathe the Cowboys but live in their broadcast market. If I want to watch every Packers game I don't have an OTA option for free, which is why the majority of the people in this thread are looking at this offer. We are displaced fans of teams not being shown in our local market for free OTA or our local TV provider.

Jedimaster just like to rant on sunday ticket every chance he gets here & at dbstalk.

Its almost like a hobby for him it seems.
