"The Woman" - Lucky McKee & Jack Ketchum

Did a search and didn't see any mention of the horror film "The Woman", directed by Lucky McKee and written by Lucky McKee and Jack Ketchum released today in Australia.

"The Woman" - When a successful country lawyer captures and attempts to "civilize" the last remaining member of a violent clan that has roamed the Northeast coast for decades, he puts the lives of his family in jeopardy.

MAN IS OUTRAGED AT SUNDANCE SCREENING
Posted January 28, 2011
During a recent screening of THE WOMAN at Sundance one gentelemen started yelling and had to be escorted out of the theater. He says something to the effect of - This movie isn't art, it should never have been screened. Who approved this screening anyways? You don't know how upsetting this film is! This film should be burned!

Trailer and more info here.

I read about this a few weeks ago! The trailer does make the film seem rather pointless and gratuitously so. Not sure I care enough to see it, but I'm not 100% sure yet.

Just in time: DVD and BD coming October 17th.

New trailer makes this look a bit more intriguing:

Actually the first (more disgusting) trailer was more impactful.

I watched this last night and although the reviews have been pretty bad I actually thought it was fairly decent. I went it with low expectations granted but still, not bad twist on captive female horror genre thingy

+1

Much better than I expected. Sean Bridgers, Angela Bettis & the music were really good. Now off to google Pollyanna Mcintosh to see what she looks like without all that filth and blood.

"Brian.....get the rope!"

This movie was so much better then first one Offspring. Loved it.

The person who played the Woman it in sold this. I need to watch both back to back but wife really really like this for some reason.

If memory serves me, Offspring was a crapfest. I have much higher hopes for The Woman.

Edit: Checked through my Horrorfest logs and confirmed it. Offspring was, in fact, a crapfest.

Other then she the only person from Offspring, you should really enjoy The Woman.
Its just dark, sick and twisted. Slow at first but it pays off in the end.

Dark, sick and twisted? 3 very important characteristics. Count me in once October rolls around...or perhaps earlier if there's a shortage of good new releases to watch.

It's on Netflix[streaming] right now.

Watched it, hated it, hopefully I can forget about it, soon.
