I'm sitting here in my modest room listening to The Gene Harris / Scott Hamilton Quintent -
At Last MCH SACD. I got this SACD from ebay for $9.99 shipped but I have seen it for as low as $7.99 shipped. This album was released in 1990 although I'm not sure if that is when it was recorded. I'm not well versed in jazz but I'm finding that I enjoy jazz albums that have a full compliment of musicians. At Last has that with Gene Harris on piano, Scott Hamilton on sax, Herb Ellis on guitar, Ray Brown on bass and Harold Jones on drums. As a group I feel they do an excellent job of complimenting each other. I enjoyed this album from start to finish and actually listened to it twice.
The SQ is very good as I listen to the 5.1 mix with the surrounds having quite a bit of activity. I found that with the strong presence from the surrounds there is quite an immersive effect when listening to the 5.1 mix. I highly recommend this MCH SACD for both the music content and for the 5.1 mix.
