I emailed Oppo asking about the discreet power, and received this reply: "The IP Control commands should be identical to the RS232 commands. So even though they may not be listed for the BDP-10x series of players, the Discrete On/Off commands may still work over IP when configured correctly."
So I assume that this means that it is a Roomie issue?

I tested the Serial ones last night and they work....although for some reason my activity was auto built with the toggle. When I went to the oppo remote on roomie discrete on/off worked so I need to fix that in my activity....
I can't seem to get the power state working right with this new version.
For example.
Let's say I have 2 activities.
Both activities use tv.
If I make the activity, I choose tv power commands. So you will see power on and power of commands.for the macros.
Now, if I goto activity 1 if will turn on tv.
If I now goto activity 2, the tv will first shut off from activity 1 then turn back on for activity 2.
I thought this new version remembers power state?
Also get same issue of you let's say load activity 1 then re-load the same activity again. Tv will turn to opposite state..

I've just started to play with 1.8, so I don't know for sure (and Roomie's online documentation is sketchy at times), but try turning off the Automatic power command (power for all activities) for the device, and add power on commands to each activity, and a power off for that device for the System off activity.
I noticed that 1.8 was still sending power commands even after the device was turned on with the power for all activities enabled,
Your other option with toggle devices it to just have a Power On Activity, and then your individual actives don't need to send a power command at all. WIth my cable box, I just leave it on all the time and don't bother with power at all.
It really amazes me that some manufacturers still don't have the concept of discrete vs toggle engrained in their noggins yet, especially for power.
Anyway, not sure if this will help, but give it a try.
Has anyone tried the WiFi sync option yet? For me, the Activity, the activity icon, the placement in the activity list, and the basic activity option settings all sync correctly and immediately amongst all devices, but any commands entered in the remote design are not - in fact, the remote design name that sync is different when synced, so that is likely the issue, though I don't see a way to address that.
I have not been able to get wireless remotes like iPad & iPhone to turn ON my new Panasonic Viera VT50 HDTV. Everything else in my system works, i.e. Marantz SR7007 Receiver, TiVo Premier Elite and Apple TV. I have set the TV/Network/Wake on LAN. I have been working on this for 4 days with Roomie Remote support and they have been outstanding – just can't get TV to turn ON except with the Panasonic IR remote that came with the TV. The Roomie command, "System Off" does work. My other remotes such as the TiVo IR Remote also works and will turn the TV ON/OFF. I installed the new Panasonic VIERA Remote app (VIERA remote2) on my iPad and it doesn't work either. I have reported this to Panasonic, but no response yet. I have read conflicting comments on the Roomie web site and they have told me there is a problem with the VT50 and wireless commands.
Any others having these problems? Edited by jacbec - 3/3/13 at 9:01pm
1.8 crashed a few times for me. i'm loving the sliders for the radiora2 system but i need to tweak the names a bit.
Yep the New Radio Ra2 integration is GREAT! I wish it had been like this when I first set it up. It now finds all the devices that I named in the RadioRa2 software by default and displays them on their own page together with sliders and feedback for dimmable devices. No more having to find the integration IDs, etc.

I'm not having any luck with wireless synching so I'm still using the Dropbox option.
My bigger issue is with the new Insteon integration. It's acting up in all sorts of ways. Roomie admin has asked for dump information and I will try to get it out to them today.
The Good: Roomie support is unbelievably fast, sometimes responding in a couple of minutes; however, their responses are often cryptic and lack the details to solve the problem, requiring additional questions.
The Bad: I have not been able to get wireless remotes like iPad & iPhone to turn ON my new Panasonic Viera VT50 3D TV. Everything else in my system works, i.e. Marantz SR7007 Receiver, TiVo Premier Elite and Apple TV. I have set the TV/Network/Wake on LAN. The Roomie command, "System Off" does work. I have read conflicting comments on the Roomie web site and they have told me there is a problem with the VT50 and wireless commands and it is not a problem with Roomie. This seems strange since the VT50 is not some obscure piece of equipment but was the #1 rated Plasma TVs for 2012.
The Ugly: Have to say there is none because Roomie seems to have outstanding potential. One thing on my wish list would be a physical remote that could receive all of the settings from the iOS apps. It is still nice to have a physical remote in your hand and not have to pay $500 for it.

I am looking for some help in controlling my onkyo 807 receiver using IP control. I also posted this in roomie website forum.
I downloaded roomie app in my iPad 2. I am able to add the roku device. However, the app does not locate my onkyo tx-nr807 receiver. For your info, I am able to control my onkyo receiver using Onkyo Remote app. Could you please help me ?
I want to play around before I purchase other add ins and the IP2IR device.

It sounds like Roomie isn't auto discovering your Onkyo. You can manually add your device by using the IP address assigned to it & port# 60128.

Yes, thanks a lot. I am able to manually add.
When I individually test the onkyo remote within the roomie app, I am able to power on and power off the onkyo receiver. But, when I use the "Watch roku" activity, the receiver would not power on. Also, when I use the "System off" activity, the receiver would not power off. I am not sure what am I doing wrong. Could you please help ?
Got it working. Added some delay between the commands and that did the trick.
So far I like this app.
Glad you got it working. When you first start out you it takes just a bit of time to learn how to tweak it but after that it is so easy to add and remove components etc, the more you use it the more you will like it!
I thinking of giving Roomie a try but would like to know first if it is possible to add a personal button.
For example, if I have roomie on the TV control screen is it possible to add a button to this screen to control my dimmer switch to save moving to a different screen to control my lighting?

Yes you can - this basically creates a custom remote layout. So on my DirecTV remote layout, I have many additional buttons for lighting, surround mode parameters, projector settings, etc.
However, with Roomie 1.8, they added a pop-up activity option, which is quite nice. You can consolidate all your often accessed commands into one screen, and selecting that activity causes a pop-up display to appear, where you can control what you wish - when you close the screen you remain in your current activity.
What's nice about this is you create it once and its quickly available for all activities, so additions, deletions, or changes are done once.
I have two questions hopefully someone can answer for me.
Is there a way to widen the volume and channel button?, I can't seem to figure that out.
Secondly, is there a way to access custom remotes or design them with out being connected to itach or the l5? I would like to play with designs and ideas on lunch breaks and such.

Is the VT50 on your network using wifi? It's fairly common for devices to struggle with wake-on-lan over wifi. This isn't specific to Roomie. If you were to hardwire it I bet it would be flawless.
I have been using Roomie Remote for a while on both my iPhone and iPad and while I do like it, I really miss having physical buttons like a standard IR remote for often used commands like volume up/down and channel up/down.
What do others do about this? Since I still have line of sight to my devices, what I have been doing is just using my Harmony One remote to control the volume up/down on my receiver, however it seems like overkill to use an expensive remote like this. It would be cool if there was some kind of inexpensive remote control available that could talk to roomie via bluetooth or similar that just had channel up/down, volume up/down and a 4 way directional pad with enter/select. Those are the main commands I miss having physical buttons. Just my thoughts...

I'm using a two methods to control lighting within activities. One is to use device 'test remote' and the other is to create a few buttons on each activity remote that needs them. Are yo usaying that you can create another activity and then somehow designate it as a pop-up activity? I'll research more but any details would be nice because having a lighting control option that can be used in a ny activity would be wonderful.

Yes - when you create the activity, flick to the bottom, and there's an option for Pop Up activity (and you'd likely turn off automatic commands as well, since your main activities would take care of power on and power off options
Now when you select this activity, you'll see the pop up window with whatever commands you entered - close it, and you're still in your current activity.
What's nice is they've finally added the ability to add collapsed commands from different devices into one layout...so any group of commands that have the same prefix will appear in a pop up menu. For my projector, for example, there are about 11 Gamma codes, all starting with the word GAMMA. I can create a collapsed command, referring to the projector, and enter GAMMA as the command name. In your layout, that will now appear as a pop up menu with all the gamma options grouped together.
I know that you can now mix various collapsed commands from all different devices into one pop up activity with a custom remote design; I presume I can now do this even customizing an existing remote design, though I haven't tried it yet - prior to 1.7, you could not add collapsed commands to a device's remote layout from another device, only the target device itself (so it was impossible to add my GAMMA pop up menu to my DirecTV layout - I would have had to have added 11 individual buttons) Now, at least with a Pop Up Activity, that's addressed.
