720p 120hz on an XG110LC?

So in thinkng about going 3d, I hooked a HTPC up to my projector via RGB and played with resolutions/refresh rates. When I attempted 1280x720 120hz, the projector flaked out, displayed an unreadable error message due to screen flicker, and shut itself down.

But by the specs, it should be able to do it. Any ideas?

I doubt it can do that combination.
Can it do 120 Hz, sure but not at 1280x720p. That is a 166 Mhz bandwidth.

I don't know if even 120Hz x1280x720i is possible.

Some of the earlier NEC LC units were limited to 150mhz bandwidth. Nice catch!

That is the video frequency, which would not be a cause for a shut-down even if it was higher that the rated bandwidth.

The shutdown is probably occurring because of excessive scanning frequency. Try 96 Hz and see what happens. The 110 should actually be able to handle 720P at 120.

The XG will not do well with 720p 120 for 3D as the phosphor is not fast enough. I'd suggest to give 720p 96 a try - less bandwidth, less heat and a better behaved projector.
