As part of wrapping up the backyard, I am integrating the sprinklers with our control4 system. This is the original sprinkler controller with the old wiring. Before my backyard remodel, we had 8 stations, we currently have 16. There were a couple of ideas behind this.
1. I made several large gardens for my wife and she requested the ability to pull out her iPhone and water it. She goes down every day when we get home work and pulls weeds and takes care of it, so we automated it.
2. One of the sprinkler stations associated with running a misting system.
3. If the house is in away mode, and the cameras or motions sensors detect excess motion in areas other than the front walk, it will turn the sprinklers on to discourage people who shouldn't be there.
This is where I wired some extra cat-6s and also where the builder put the D-mark. The RS-232 will come from this location, into the conduit, and finally to the new sprinkler controller.
Another picture of the conduit I ran as it goes into the garage. I ran schedule 80 conduit which contains the sprinkler control wire to each valve just in case I wanted to add something later.
