New House, because I love this stuff. - Page 3

Got a evening weather job up here, so it was a great career move.

I did my floors as dark as they could stain them, without adding dark paint to the stain, not sure what the color is, but espresso is probably a good description. I did smooth, because I feared the hand-scraped might be a little trendy and less classic than smooth.

When we moved to Keller, we also lived in an apartment for six months. My wife and I had just gotten married, so we had two smallish houses crammed into our apartment. Thankfully, the apartment also had a garage I could use as storage too.

Driving out of the apartment parking lot the last time knowing I'd never have to hear the herd of elephants (or so it seemed) running in the unit above me again was won-der-ful.

Love your open kitchen/LR. We did the same thing here.

Well construction has begun. It has already been a journey. We are in the house and I have been trying to make progress on this as quickly as possible so we can get TVs going before the holiday guests arrive. Now that this is all rolling I should be posting everyday.

Tonight I will bolt down the racks, cut holes for the wires, install and paint face trim and maybe start racking some stuff up. My wife wants me to tile the fireplace we tore out the first day we were in.

Well thanks to my cousin Nathan and friend Ryan we got the big tv mounted on Saturday night. The stud bay was a 1/4 less than 16 on center so we had to shave the studs to fit the box into the wall that we have mounted behind every tv. Each tv is taking 4-5 hours. Have to cut in the box, bring power to the box, Terminate multiconductor, terminate 5-6 cat6 lines. Install hdmi balun, power conditioner, control4 hc200 into the back box. It's a lot of work.

you could have the common courtesy to post a pic of these boxes you have behind the tv's

I will get some pictures off my camera. I had one stud bay that was 2 inches narrower than normal and I ended up hang to build and finish a wood box. I have that picture on my phone.

I started wiring up the power and cat-6 I'm the rack last night while my wife terminated the cat-6 for the data and baluns. She was awesome at it! All wires have heat shrunk labels.

Need to look at how to wire this power bar, it has multiple circuits. I am going to use one for ups and the other for ip power control to reboot items if they lock up. The Panamax bluebolt will auto power cycle modem router if it looses connection. Pretty cool!

So I didn't realize that posting pictures with the iphone app would give such poor results. Going to repost a few pictures along with a few new for everyone to see.

Game Room. This is the area where I plan to build a desk. These TV's are part of the 8:2 zone HDMI Matrix.

The rack is located in what was supposed to be a game room closet.

For some reason the Gym was the room that got completed first. Haven't stepped foot in there since. We thought a google TV would be cool while working out.

As I previously posted, each TV is taking several hours to mount. Here is a picture of the back box getting installed.

You can see the HDMI Balun with the red light and the surge protector. This particular TV location didn't have a local HC200, but most of them do.

Been extremely happy with all the chief product. The mount lines up with the box and there are post leveling screws.

This is the result so far. I have been working on tearing down the fireplace and replacing it. As you can see, its halfway done.

I went to install a back box and found that this particular stud-bay where I chose to wire was 2 inched too narrow. I had to build a wood version of the chief box.

Here is a fully completed box with the HC-200. There are 11 TV locations all matrix'd from the rack throughout the house.
