if you need to deinterlace, use yadif in lav video rather than deinterlacing through madvr.
Is there a reason to have the CPU do software decoding? What’s the advantage of using MPC-HC, madVR, etc. versus a more powerful discrete video card? I just don’t have a firm grasp on what processing takes place where, and if 3rd party software affects the CPU, GPU or both. It appears some folks use a video card, some use software, & some use both.
You mentioned if I need to deinterlace. The HTPC is used primarily as an OTA HD DVR and some stations are 1080i and some are 720p. Does this mean that settings have to be changed depending on which channel is recorded?
