This looks very interesting. Can you please help me out with more detailed instructions on how to do this? I never used the receiver to search and play the music from my HTPC... I believe the receiver won't understand the playlist files (from MPC-HC, foobar2000, etc), but still, it is something. Can it play FLAC files? Can you tell me how to do it?
Thanks a lot for your help.
Ross Ridge, thank you very much. I just figured out how to do it. I selected the 'PC' input in the receiver, and my HTPC was listed there. I was getting 'access denied' when trying to access the HTPC files, but I fixed it by giving the receiver access right to stream media from my HTPC in the windows network center. After that, the receiver was able to 'see' and 'play' media files stored in my HTPC. I dropped a MP3 file there, and the receiver played it just fine. I dropped a FLAC file, and the receiver didn't even listed the file, so I guess this receiver can't play FLAC files this way (maybe its a DLNA standard / compliance issue?). I made a MP3 playlist with windows media player, and the receiver was able to play the playlist just fine. I will assume this receiver can play wav files (16 / 24 bits up to 96KHz at least), so its up to me to decode all my flac music to .wav files (if I want lossless) or I can encode everything to MP3 320kb/s and save some disk space. Just as you said, if I play the music from my HTPC in this way, I can select any video output (AV1, AV2, AV3 ... AV8) to show on my HDTV while playing the music from my HTPC. It works. My flac library is not that big... only about 1000 files, so I think I will decode all the files to .wav with eac3to, make a playlist with windows media player of the .wav files, and use the receiver to play the playlist by DLNA. And then I can pick any video source I want (from AV1 to AV8) to display on my HDTV. Thanks just what I wanted.
Thanks a lot for your help, I hope this helps someone else that wants to do this.
BTW, I would be nice if the receiver could play the FLAC files via DLNA... Is that a possibility in the near future?
Again, thanks a lot.
