Just purchased an RX-A810 on close out for a great price.
It is/was replacing a 12 year old 120watt JVC without HDMI.
This evening we hooked it up to our theater speakers and did some basic configuration. Our setup on speakers is Front left and right Def Tech(DT) towers, center DT (all powered) and surround DT.
We watched a movie this evening and all was fine until about mid way through the movie when a scene with lots of booms and bangs came on (LOL) and the Yamaha just powered it self off. When I powered it back on from the front power switch o n the unit it had the "Check DP wire" message being displayed. I was only able to power on the unit via the front button and not the remote.
So we continued and it happened a few other times as well during louder than normal scenes. I had the volume cranked pretty good at around -5 to -10. Finally I reduced the volume to around - 18 to -20 and we were able to watch the movie without incident.
Anyone have any ideas? The unit seems nice and would really like to keep it as it sounds great through our system and I am sure it will sound even better once I have a chance to really calibrate it.
We either have a bad unit, the 810 does not have enough power for our theater or I have something configured wrong.
I have the unit setup to output through HDMI 1+2. One HDMI output 1 we are connected to a sony projector. On output 2 we are connected to an HDMI splitter that goes to the rest of the house via HDMI over CAT 5. I can't seem to get any signal on HDMI output 2 to the splitter (thus to the other dispalys throughout the house). Anyone have HDMI out 2 hooked up to a splitter? Any special adjustments that need to be made?
