That option isn't available, probably because a 2nd display first must be detected. Apparently, Windows 7 is not detecting the AVR even as an unknown device.

Edit: got it working, and I enjoy the TV view a lot. The solution somehow involves two different graphics cards switching between each other, and the AVR is detected even in Standby.

I noticed that the two Audio inputs do not offer a video output like I Ferber radio, PC, FM radio, or even USB do. Using Audio 5I'm just stuck looking at the background. I'll try one of the AV inputs.

You can use the "scene"
As a work around on this

I'm in the process of building my home theater. I have a long way to go before completion, but last night I hooked up my speakers and fired up my RX-A3010 for the first time.

I don't have video yet, so I was unable to see the menu, but it felt good to plug it in and see it working. My speakers sounded a little..."flat"...so I can only assume the receiver needs tweeked.

Have you run YPAO yet?

No. My theater is not ready yet. I don't even own a projector yet, so I can't see the Yamaha GUI. All I did was hook up the speakers, plug in a PS3 and pop in a Blu-Ray.

My equipment rack is not in the same room as my theater. I'm not sure if the YPAO cord will be long enough to reach. Are there any problems with attaching an adapter cord to lengthen?

Has anyone noticed that when watching 4:3 DVD content and using the A3010 with aspect ratio set to "16:9 normal" the black pillar box columns are too narrow?

I have found that if I let my DVD player (oppo bdp 93) do the up conversion from 480i to 1080p, the pillar box columns are the correct width. If I have the Oppo set to source direct, and the AVR video processing turned off, my HDTV will also insert correctly sized pillar boxes.

The problem is, when the AVR uses pillar boxes that are too narrow, the whole image is stretched horizontally somewhat. It's like each pillar box column is 50 pixels too narrow...

Thanks, but I've found the AVR does a much better job of upscaling/deinterlacing then my tv (Panny tc-p54g10) so I'd really like to fix the pillar box issue if possible.

OK, so i was able to figure out the "Extended Surround" option...i now get full use of my 7.1 from a 5.1 source. However is there a way to make it stop scrolling from "Dolby Digital" to "PLIIx Movie" and back? It's driving me nuts! tongue.gif

From the Function menu try Display Set / Front Panel Display / Scroll = Once (the default is Continuous).

I have the same issue and changing that setting does no good

That setting is only for station/song information via the tuner

So all I do is keep my display on dsp setting (standard/sci-fi...etc) instead

I have the same print hanging next to my main LP. I've had it for years fooled up in a mailing tube until I bought my house and hung it in my theater/entertainment room. Very emotional day when I hung it. I assume you remember the maxell commercials? I also have a RX-A2010 along with a 7.1 paradigm monitor series V6. I must say there are plenty of days that I have been blown away.

I'm sorry... could you possibly explain or clairify that statement?

Thanks!

Press the Info button on the remote so that the front panel shows the "DSP Program" instead.

Does the 3010 allow for changing between 110/220V?

Usually it requires a specific voltage for the country it was bought in, but there's a General model that is switchable. But I have no idea where you buy the General model.

I see, thanks, +rep. Curious as I've seen this general one online. How come they don't only sell those? Then they would only need one model world wide. Any other brand that offer this?
Voltage is not the only difference between regions. Often there are feaures that are different too, or different colours, and sometimes even different connectors. But the firmware is always the same for all regions, and it can detect which version it's running on and enable or disable features accordingly. For some reason it seems Yamaha would rather you only use a version in the region for which it was intended, so they usually don't have a selectable voltage.

IIRC the 3010 was sold in much of the world as the RX-V3067, and I suspect there may have been a General Model of the RX-V3067 (but not one of the RX-A3010). The market for the General Model includes "Third World" countries, so you can sometimes find them in major US or European cities in 'export stores' targeted at tourists|businessmen on brief visits to (say) NYC or London.

When I started this hobby some 20+ years ago I was in the military. The armed forces stores sold equipment that was switchable between 110/220V.

I'm about to have what I'm calling a Jam Session with a few friends. We will be watching several bluray concerts and having some drinks. My system concise of the following: Yamaha RX-A2010, Paradigm monitor 9's V6, ADP-390's, ADP-190's, CC-290 and a PDR-100. My PS3 as a bluray player and a Samsung ES-7100 for my display. What better way to enjoy your equipment then to share(show off)with friends. While this may not be the ultimate system, it's mine and I love it. Concerts to be determined by my friends.

How can this station be added to our Web Radio list? Deep Tracks 97.1 with TuneIn Radio. http://tun.in/sewJF

It is a sister station to a station already listed; The Drive 97.1 in Chicago

I've had a A710 for a couple of years, and love it. I just got a new LG TV last night, and I need the remote code for it. To my surprise, I couldn't find remote codes either by googling nor by searching this thread.

Does anyone know of a resource that lists various device codes for the remote that came with my receiver?

Thanks...
