I was getting a little worried you were going to skip this year, glad to see you didn't. Thanks

BTN's graphics are not 4:3 safe, I can't remember if that was the case last season.

This is new for them this year.

Something seriously wrong with the video on the SEC Network game via FS Detroit Plus. Anyone else seeing this?

I'm blacked out on DirecTV in-market on MSG and out-of-market on FS Detroit Plus. But I do get it on Altitude and it seems fine.

Kent State-Alabama (SEC Network) on WPCH-DT doesn't look too hot. Appalachian State-Virginia Tech (ACC Network) on WUPA-DT looks much better! This is via Comcast Atlanta.

Audio from the field from the Northwestern vs. BC game on ESPNU sounds like it is coming thru a tin can.

Yep, it's like the colors can't keep up with the picture whenever there's any movement on the screen. Weird, thanks for confirming it's not something wrong with my TV.

Edit: It looks like they may have fixed the issue during the last commercial break, looks much better now.

Edit 2: Watching OTA from KATV Ch. 7 in Little Rock, AR.

Bummer that the Miami/Missouri game isn't presented with graphics in 16:9, but I'm sure that has something to with these games also being shown on Comcast Sports Net. Watching the game on Fox Sports West.

Volume fluctuations on ND game on NBC on D*. Can't hear announcers at times.

Edit: Seems to be fixed now. Kind of wish it wasn't with Mayock.

Off topic but man is Notre Dame in trouble. They look like crap.

Ark. State at Illinois has had all sorts of problems on DirecTV today. First the Purdue game went long so they moved it from channel 611 to 615 with no initial change to the guide. Once the early game ended they were showing it on both channels, but late in the second quarter both channels went dark for a few minutes causing the BTN's twitter account to go into overdrive.

Western Michigan vs. Michigan has had some transmission issues twice losing the picture and going to the phone backup for the audio.

No doubt the weather is causing issues. The ULM/FSU game was a technically awful broadcast. I'll call it first game jitters, but the graphics were a mess, there were several times when extraneous voices were heard (like Dan Hawkins' talkback wasn't working correctly -- or he didn't know how to use it), on FIOS the picture would skip a few frames every so often. A mess all the way around on ESPNU.

Longhorn Sports Network looks decent so far, on par with much of what you see on ESPN. The Gameday Show looks great (really Texas has its own College Gameday?), though they could probably stand to use more lighting firepower on the set, there's noticeable exposure problems between the talent and the afternoon Austin sun blowing out the backgrounds.

The best looking game so far to me is the BYU game. The MINN/USC game looked okay on GoalLine & ESPNEWS but horrible on KABC and the new scorebug I feel is too big and becomes very awkwardly placed off-center to accomodate the ABC meatball.

The surround sound on the Notre Dame game (or weather delay) was kinda cool, noticed the rain in the surrounds.

Minnesota-USC sounded like true 5.1, but looked like crap on WFAA.

James Madison-UNC had a 16:9 Fox scorebox on FSN Southwest+, while UCLA-Houston had a 4:3 Fox scorebox on FSN Southwest. ECU-SC is an ESPN-style scorebar with some of the other graphics reaching into the 16:9 area.

FAU-UF looks like the usual ESPNU crap. Very soft picture with the detail enhancement cranked up.

Watching all via FiOS in Dallas.

Edit: ND game was 2.0 audio when I had it on for a few minutes before the delay, but seems to be 5.1 now.

Another ABC station ruined by LWN....KNXV Phoenix added them on 9/1.
The PQ on the USC game was marginal at best, but now watching ORE/LSU and it's baaaaaad, way overcompressed with dancing grass...reminds me of the early days of FOX HD.

Watching via Cox Cable in Phoenix.

got the abc blur on the lsu game. espn looks normal with the ga game.

watching on comcast atlanta.

On FIOS the KABC Saturday Night Game looks fine to me (probably a fiber backhaul from Dallas helping things out), the Boise State/UGA game also is okay, though less snappy to my eye (the ABC game's Sony cameras always snap more to me), though the side-by-side broadcasts on GoalLine don't look as good. Or maybe Oregon's Tron uniforms have me distracted.

The Florida game looks subpar. Reddish tint (or maybe the field is just dead), over edge-enhanced with blue fringing around the edges.

The South Carolina game has a hazy bluish white balance.

Notre Dame game's on Versus now btw.

Saw it OTA (cut the cord last week from D*) on WZDX Fox 54 in Huntsville, AL (SEC Network). No compression, and it looked decent, but not as sharp as it could be. Colors were excellent.

Watching OTA via WAAY 31 in Huntsville, AL. It's the best picture on a football game I've ever seen. No compression I can see, no dancing grass, no blur, and color rendition is near perfect. Skin tones and the color of the grass are as good as anything I've seen anywhere. Sharpness is as good as it gets at 720p, which is all I need on a 42" plasma at 7.5 ft.

I should have switched to OTA a few years ago. I didn't realize just how bad the compression on Comcast and D* are.

Notre Dame pulled from NBC and moved to Versus in favor of a made for tv movie due to rain delay; go onto lose to USF.
ESPNU earlier on the Florida Atlantic/Florida game looked absolutely awful. It's only SD here (Atlantic Broadband cable), but this thing made Youtube in 240p look good. Worst looking channel I've ever seen.

Checking in, with margaritas, for the Longhorn game.
Colorado-Hawaii on ESPN2 looks really good. Probably the best of anything on an ESPN network today.

I switched to OTA 3 years ago and I'm still amazed how good the games look OTA. I watched both games you mentioned and experienced the same thing.

Is the scorebox for SMU/A&M 4x3 safe where you are? I'm watching it on ROOT Sports Pittsburgh, and it is here.
