Hey Kevin,

Looks good!
How did you make out with your fathers' motion 12's? I'm surprised you didnt explain to him they need adequate 'break in' time. At your place, of course.....

Pretty Awesome!! I'll have to steal your LED idea; my couch is going to be against a short semi-wall that opens up to the kitchen. The 2 Surround Backs are going to be in that space ... I would love to do the lay down floor LED's like you did.

Did you say you got them from Amazon? Simple plug 'n play?

How do you get the Intro to play before every movie? I'm also using MediaPortal! BTW - You probably have it resolved at this point - but use LAV Filters with MP1.2 ... decodes everything from DTS-HD MA, TrueHD, etc. to old school MP3, WMA and all.

Looks Good!

Thanks! The led kit was from amazon. Comes with a nice little switch with diff modes. Just look up led home theater kit. For the intros I use mypremovies. In the advanced options (the list one) there's a play custom intro. If you can't find it ill take a screenshot when I get home.

Currently I'm using mp 1.2 but set to use mpc hc as an ext player. Lav filters ftw plus madvr/mad flac too1

Found the LED kit at Amazon; will defnitely order one.

Just found the Custom Intro thing too -- never noticed it before!! That's pretty awesome. Will definitely cook some up for that one. I got the IMAX Intro from Demolandia -- I might modify that one in Vegas or Premier and customize it for my theatre.

I'm using MP1.2 w/ ArcSoft's TMT5 for BD's & DVD's. Before LAV I had so much problem with straight decoding of HD Audio formats (DTS-HD/TrueHD) ... but LAV solved it in one shot. I had long running threads in the MP forum.

Rock!

For move nights check out MyPreMovie.com. Its an app created by an avs member that allows you to play slideshows + trailers before the main feature. I use it to play my premovie show slides than trailers than some dolby and dts intros. Oh and cant forget the DOMAX intro lol.

For trailers download them from itunes. they will be in the music folder on your computer (or whereever you set itunes to store songs). You can find a bunch of nice slides here on avs

Looks good Kevin. What are the specs on the HTPC and what case is that?

I've been looking at getting into HTPC but really don't know where to start with it...

It's actually an old laptop . Specs are Intel T6600 4 gigs ram and a Nvidia GT 220m. If you don't know where to start, let me recommend Assassin HTPC to you (local member here). He knows his stuff and builds some great looking HTPCs.

I myself rip my blurays and than compress them big time. Only reason I sacrifice quality is because I prefer to hold as much movies as I can on my hard drives. I honestly though cant tell the difference between the full rip ISO and my end result encodes

Thanks. I will hit you up later for some times on ripping movies. I have a lot of discs and would be nice to move them to my NAS...

I like the LED blue neon light I was going to do multiple colours of LED years ago but the cost would be huge along with cheap circuit controller.

eBay as some cheap multi RGB ones I looked at this one below and wow the price for so 5 meters mad! The colours can flow up and and give a nice mood setting in the room. I just brought it!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5M-5050-RG...#ht_2237wt_882

I don't use the single blue neon tube no more its placed in the cupboard.

I read somewhere Immortals (2011) is bit of low end at high level its no wonder it bottomed. It might have played fine at lower level. I take it was mixed at Wildfire studios
Leslie Shatz .... sound designer
Leslie Shatz .... sound re-recording mixer

Still think The Fly II (1989) is cool mix by him.

A little tip any new film you get play it at lower level than you would usually have it and if it plays fine with no issues take it up another 3db and so if it starts making strange distorted sounds back off on level.

Did you take a read of this thread its got a waterfall of Immortals and lows below 20Hz I'd use a little caution.

Well, thanks to you and some others here, I'm heading out in a bit to buy Immortals. It may not be your fault if it smokes my little sub, but I'll be blaming You just the same!!

Definitely sounds odd though during the waterfall scene. Clipping?

Hey there. Do you remember the chapter and time in the scene this caused issues? Not that I'm going to rush out and buy I have plenty of films that could do damage.

I can throw out tons of ideas, my friend.

You know, it's pretty easy to make a subwoofer. Just got to figure out your budget and size cuz I know that's something you have to deal with. Though I would most certainly design one that wouldn't 'bottom'.

$400 to 450. What can I make hopefully not to hard

How much space you got on hand? How big can this sub be?

That's not a whole lot of budget but... if you can spare the space... things can be done.

Hmmm let me get some measurements when I get home. Id be willing to up the budget if I could build something offering similar performance to an outlaw lfm1 ex but smaller. Second ex takes too much room
post #58 of 69
Hmmm.... smaller, eh?

Possible? Or reduce height? Make longer?

Ehhh....

How bout all that space behind your couch? That's a gold mine for several small subs. It's hard to tell for for sure without physically being in your room.

Speaking of which... when is the gang getting together next?
