help with home theater.

Hey, I am finally moving out of my apartment into a new home. I have had expierience with HTiB sound systems and am looking to get my first receiver and speaker combo. I plan on using this system in a basement. It is a medium sized room and I will be about 10' away from my tv. I am looking to spend about 1,000 to 1,500$ I know its not a whole lot in the home theater world, but I am hoping it is a good starting point and i can upgrade as i need.

What I am looking at right now is.

For speakers.

I know that the procinema 800 is getting great reviews everywhere I look. I just dont know if there is a better speaker combination for the price. I dont live in a very big city so demoing sound systems is pretty much impossible.

My receiver I plan on getting.

I figure the receiver is good enough to let me upgrade speakers as needed.

Any suggestions? good setup? comments?

Thanks for the help.

As far as the receiver, I'd say that's a good fit, BUT the speakers, not so much in my opinion. They are great speakers, but for the price, and in the amount of space you have, you're going to want bigger speakers for your front and center.

Start looking for a pair of towers and a matching center, then if you want a DefTech ProCinema800 pair as surrounds, that works.

Agree on the speakers concerns...over 1000 dollars is a lot to spend on basically satellite speakers. For over 1000 dollars, you are getting 6 4.5 inch drivers...not a lot for the money! Now if you need the smaller footprint, then so be it...

From what I've read, HSU offers some pretty excellent speaker/sub packages that you should take a look at. I myself am considering either an Enthusiast or Hybrid package. HTH.

ok, i changed up my selection after doing some more research. I went with bookshelf speakers up from my satellite selection. Now I just need some help selecting the subwoofer. Not sure the best way to go here. I dont really want to spend any more then 400 on the woofer if possible. Open for more suggestions and comments. I appreciate everyone's help thus far.

I was planning to stay with the same receiver as above.

Thanks again for all help.

You really dont need those surrounds, I suggest going with CB-5's wall mounted instead. that saves you $150 right there, which you could put toward a better sub, or just pocket.

I think the ED A3-250 is the best under $500 sub available.
