Better upscaler? Onkyo TX-SR608 vs KDL40ex500

Hello. I'm curious as to which one of my devices has the better scaler, and would be best to use for upscaling to 1080p? My Onkyo TX-SR608 or KDL40ex500?
Also does anyone know what chips these use?

I can't help specifically with your question, though I do own a similar TV it's a smaller model and installed in my kitchen, so a less critical viewing display.

What I would say is simply to test both options and see which you prefer. If you can't tell any difference, or one is better than the other to your eyes then the technicality is moot really. You may even find that one is better for upscaling and the other better for deinterlacing, so that creates a futher choice as to your priorities.

Like the 12Hz bump.

Kelvin, that seems to be really my only option now

I will check them out each with a dvd. I know the Onkyo has the
Faroudja DCDi (Directional correlational deinterlacing)
Which is pretty respectable at what it does, however I have no idea (neither does google) what my Sony LCD has; unless its solely Bravia Engine II.... As far as upscaling goes, it's tough to eye that one out, however I have yet to really compare the deinterlacing part of it.

I would like to assume the Onkyo probably has the better deinterlacer...
