Beautifull photos

But I would show the TV to give that added sense of offscreen.wink.gif

UPDATE:

Elite support finally authorized the replacement of my 70 after sending in numerous photos of my vertical yellow line issue. The offered me 3 options....

1. Replacement - won't be in stock until Oct - Nov time-frame
2. Full refund
3. Find out if the distributor for the store I bought it from is on their approved list. If it is and they have a 70 in stock, Sharp will authorize a return with the distributor and I will be sent a new 70 from the store.

For now, I've temporarily chosen option 1 until I decide what I want to do ultimately. Started to do research on different TVs that may replace the Elite....but I doubt I'll find one that will match the video quality of the Elite. frown.gif

What should I do?!

No enhancement or color correction whatsoever I promise you, all images were taken in RAW format and except for the merging of the separate exposures using Photoshop nothing else was done to them. The fact is the images look much better in person because my camera can't capture anywhere near all of the fine shadow detail you see in person. This is the sole reason I take several exposures at different exposure times and then merge them using Photoshop, it's my goal to get you something closely resembling what I'm actually seeing in person however futile attempt may be. The images in this movie looked phenomenal I recommend everyone to see this movie in person, I'm considering picking up this movie for a reference desk it looked that good. biggrin.gif

The bezel was included in the original photos but it simply can't be seen it's too dark, if you like I'll leave the black bezel in on the next set of photos I take it's no problem. wink.gif

I've read that blooming is caused, to some extent, by the backlight bleeding through the space between the liquid crystals (rather than simply bleeding through the LCs themselves). This may also explain the brighter "blacks" on this set. When a bright area nears the "black bars" on a widescreen movie, blooming is very apparent in the bar. This was not the case with my former set. Apparently, the quality of screens varies in this regard. In all other respects, I'm pleased with this set, but everything I heard about the lack of blooming was a major reason that I bought the Elite.
Does anyone else see blooming on your Elite? How bright are the black bars? From reading this thread, it sounds as if the quality control is better on the 70" model, so let us know if you have a 60 or 70 inch.
I've played with adjusting the Brightness and the Backlight to bring the black level down, but it then loses shadow detail and headroom on whites. Any suggestions?

I have the 60 and have no blooming. Sometimes it's a function of having the display adjusted improperly. Mine was ISF'd and just haven't seen this as an issue and can't recall reading other owners complaining about it.

You may want to consider having the display professionally adjusted.

Now that's a display that did have the issue. I had the same unit and returned it partially for that reason, but largely because of poor white uniformity.

For some reason, the pic quality seems to lag and and blur. It is not consistent on all channels. Anyway here is system details, hope someone has a solution:
1. Athem DV2 processor. New version just out with 3D
2. Anthem A-5 Amp ( running 2x225 to each of front speakers ( B & W 700 series speakers), and 1 x 225 to center speaker also B & W
3.Anthem A-2 Amp running the rear speakers (mounted in ceiling at back of room.
4.Powered B & W sub, I think it is A-25
5. Sony Blu Raybdps5000es
6. Direct TV sal box hddvr
Notes:
Blu Ray movies are great, sound great look great, etc.
Watching Sat TV is the issue, not sure why. Am going hdmi into DV2, have turned off native setting on sat box and dropped to 1080i, with limited success.
I also have a comcast cable box as a back up and the issue does not appear when using Comcast as server, but prefer Direct TV programming so really want to resolve this.
I also talked with Eltie customer servcie and their response was to connect direct from sat box to display which seems very wrong to me.
The Display when on direct tv says 1080p or 1080i/24hz.
Sure would appreciate any help/input anyone might have.

If you don't see the issue with Blu Ray, then you have just confirmed the issue is not with the display, but rather your satellite provider. It could be something within the chain of processing that you're using for Directv. Try taking the Anthem out of the chain and see what happens.

That is pretty bad. I'd go with option 1 and get fresh stock.

well, changed from 24 to 60 refresh rate, problem sound, had to tweak lip synch slightly as well. Now I can finally see what this system can do. Thanks for your help.

Any animated movie such as "The Lorax" "Tangled" or "Toy Story 3" look great. To me the best looking 3d movie with tons of pop in the image is hands down "Hugo" I think the best all around 3d movie is Avatar but it's still not in stores yet.

THANKS, going with Hugo

As I am about to pull the trigger on the 70" Elite (as soon as my dealer/installer gets back from CEDIA) but with the start of football season, I am wondering if I will be happy with how fast motion looks. I have seen this set 100 times at Best Buy, but with one exception they always have the same demo video on. I have not been able to see this set with anything approaching "real" content. I have read about 25% of the 10K posts in this thread, and have not seen much on this topic.
Darren

I have mine set to "120 Low" and it handles fast motion very well. Watching baseball(Go Rangers) or football(Go Cowboys) I see no artifacts at all.

Given Sharp (very!) unstable financial state I would probably have taken option 2 or maybe option 3.

I personally like 3D a lot but it wasn't until I got my ELITE into my theater room which is blacked out that I really saw the meaning of 3D. The entire game changes 100% if you can get this set into a blacked out room. My favorite 3D is Avatar by FAR! It will be available for purchase in early October.
I would say there are a few others HUGO being one of them of course but any 3D with the aspect ratio that fills your entire screen will look amazing.

ARC issue......

Onkyo 608b to Sharp 70" via HDMI 1 (arc port)
So arc works fine watching Netflix to my 7.1 system.
Of course audio via htpc or Xbox is fine as thy go through the Onkyo.

But....

When I put. A source into hdmi2 (say hdmi from laptop the arc is not working. The computer only sees 2 channel internal speakers.

Should the arc not pass audio from hdmi2 to hdmi1(arc) and back to my Onkyo ?

I'm using Zoom Player with LAV video decoder with madVR renderer. Nvidia 301.42 drivers with HKR,,SetDefaultFullRGBRangeOnHDMI,%REG_DWORD%,1 hack. HDMI to Elite receiver (video processing set to off).
.

Where can I read more about this registry hack? Is their a nice htpc video guide link in the forum? I was looking for a FAQ in the htpc one but did not see one addressing colors pace

Hi,
Not sure about the elites, but on the 8470/847 (70'' sharp), only hdmi 1 is an ARC input to the TV.

Best,
