Warranty is 2 years. Registering the set with Sharp get you an extra 3 months.

Any idea when we will hear about the new Elite's?? Thx!!

1 million dollar question here...... Most people seem to think there will not be a new Elite do to Sharps financial mess. Looks like even Sharps 900 series tv is not going to happen either

I have a question about the 3D glasses. Are these compatible with the Elite?

http://www.amazon.com/Sharp-AN3DG20B-3D-Glasses-Black-Single/dp/B005JABSB6/ref=pd_sim_e_4

If not, can you recommend the ones that are?

Thanks!

I have the elite and these 3D glasses. Both work the same. Looks like a re-badge. Both have the same shape and specs except for the sharp name on the side and the "EL" code (AN3DG20EL).

Thanks, Sharpie70. Appreciate the quick reply.

I can confirm this as well. I use both the Elite and non "Elite" versions of the glasses and both work fine

Can you charge the glasses with a computer or does it have to be with the TV?

Never tried with a PC, but I have an all in one usb charging station (phones, mps3 players, etc.) is it charges the glasses just fine.

I charge my glasses by plugging into USB on PC all the time. So for me it has worked.

Probably a bit off topic for this thread but since you are looking for a soundbar I assume you don't have a receiver. If that is the Case, the Sony CT550W is nice because it has soundbar, sub, and a mini makeshift receiver unit (HDMI repeater and will decode all blu ray high def codecs) that several devices can be plugged into.

As far as Blu Ray it depends what you want. I have an Oppo BDP-93 which is amazing. But once again if you are using a soundbar and not 5.1 or 7.1 setup you may not be into all the extra features on the Oppo. The panasonic BDT500 and Sony BDPS 790 have many of the features of the Oppo for half the price (on Amazon). If you are just watching blu rays with it (not an audiophile for music), you really cant go wrong with any of the lower end models from Panasonic or Sony. In my opinion the video quality on blu rays from the lower end models is just as good as all the higher end ones (probably debatable in another forum) . It is just all the extra features you are paying for (faster load times, Wi Fi, dual HDMI's outs, 4k upscaling, playing a multitude of file types etc...).

Hope this helps

What is you budget for these items? What are the applications? Music? Movies? Gaming?

At $250 the PS3 slim is very nice. You can't go wrong with an OPPO, but they will be about twice the price (or more depending on model).

For subs, I would say look at the Epik Legend for $500, the Epik Empire for $800, HSU VTF-15H for $880-$1k, the Rythmik FV15HP for $1250, or the Seaton Submersive HP approximately $2.5k shipped.

I have no idea what a good sound bar is.

Agreed. If you post a bit more info we might be able to help more. My post assumes you either live in an Apartment/Condo (where you can't be too loud) or your on a budget (as you are looking for a soundbar versus a complete 5.1 to 7.1 setup). However, typically the Elite and the phrase "on a budget" do not go hand in hand. smile.gif

Fairly low indeed especially on West Coast. Just picked mine up from Grand Junction, CO store. It's heavy (very heavy) and it barely fits in a Dodge minivan, upright of course, actually at an 80 degree angle.

There's also codes for on and off rather than modal on/off.

Where is the Harmony software or site can we contact tech support to request our account get loaded? I keep getting dumped to the "general screen" of help... arg

Panasonic BDT220, great blu-ray at a reasonable price. See the Home Theater Magazine review on it.

Hi everyone,

quick question for owners of the Elite and a Harmony remote: I've tried to set it up using the appropriate profile in the Harmony database and everything works except switching inputs on the tv. I'm trying to have the Harmony switch between the TV input (to watch OTA tv) and HDMI 1 (to watch movies stored on my HTPC). Everytime the Harmony gets it wrong, tries to cycle through all HDMI inputs and never selects the correct one.

Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks

I had the exact same issue. I had to call tech support to get a solution. It took 2 hours to get the problem solved.

My 70" rotated through all the inputs and never land on the correct one. The tech had to add a code that would instruct the unit to pause on on each input then step to the next. In my opinion, it slightly slows the transition but it ends on the correct input. FWIW, the tech said the algorithm in the Elite input system was more complex than most, sounded like a 'let's move on ' response to me. I must say, I have not heard of this problem with anyone else that I can recall, so it doesn't appear to be an inherent characteristic. Bottom line, it took Logitech and 2 hours on the phone running through many configurations to get it right.

Thanks for the reply. I will try to adjust the delays and see what it does. Do you still have the exact values so I dont have to waste time experimenting perchance?

I have the harmony 900 and had the same issue. Search through this thread and you will find a post about a pioneer code that works with the Elite and has a discreet input selection. Works perfectly.

I've seen a couple of posts talking about low stock on the Elites. I'm assuming nobody has heard anything regarding the halting of production on these units?

My current plans are to pick up the 70" (or unlikely successor) when we move during the first quarter of next year.
