Official Sharp Elite PRO-70X5 and 60X5 Owners Thread - Page 376

Just returned from my local BB. When I inquired about the 70" Elite, he said that they are back ordered and it would be weeks before I could get one. He said that there is a new model coming out, but he didn't know any details about it. Does anyone know anything about a new Elite? Is there really going to be one? When is it coming out? If it is going to be a "dumbed down" model, then I should try to get one now. But if the new model is going to be an upgrade then I would rather wait for it.

they have been saying that for months at bb. they have no more of an idea than you and I

Could be longer too.

Has anyone tried any non-Sharp 3d compatible glasses? I see a few around, but have no idea if they will work, or how well. These would be for guests, and subject most likely to more abuse than I give my glasses, so something cheaper is in order wink.gif

For Contrast, I would stick with 23 or lower. When I said 17-25, those were RGB values. smile.gif

Is there any way to disable that annoying 3D message box. It comes off and on every time my Oppo switches between video at the start of a blu ray. Like a million times.

Stop teasing - nothing new after 2.19 yet.

I noticed the update as well, does anyone know what changes were made with the new firmware? Or is there some way to view some update notes regarding this information?

Besides the quick summary the update gave which stated only about the elimination of a few
apps such as the blockbuster app.

Any technical details on the update......?

Neither did I.

It looks like some recent owners did not have the latest firmware - 2.19. It's not new, just new to them.

this is correct. i downloaded 2.19 last night. strangely, it took a couple of months for the update to appear...in spite of the fact that i'd tried to manually update several times.

Just bought a 60" and would like to get a recommendation on calibrator in Houston. Out of the box is a wow factor already....looking forward to the added detail calibaration will bring. Thanks.

Thank you. Did you get an fL reading at +1 Brightness. -1 Backlight and 23 Contrast (Adv Low) ? I am curious to see if this is as close as I think to some of the calibrated settings (LD on) or if I am slowly burning my eyeballs out.

I saw the 60" version of this set at a local refurb warehouse......the TV had a 1-2 pixel wide vertical green line 5" from the right side of the screen edge, it was only apparent when viewing content.......is this a panel (glass) problem or an input problem ie HDMI , component etc? I was curious if this could be fixed, as they were casking a ridiculous low price for the set.

Thanks

Question: I'm using the CNET settings for my 60" Elite and am overall quite satisfied with the results (although I have my contrast set at +25 vs. +32). However, the set does seem to have a blue-ish tint to it. For example, during Vikings games the uniforms seem to be a purple/blue color vs. a purple color. While I'm not a fan of the team, I see plenty of Vikes jerseys living in Minnesota and they certainly don't look blue. Am I doing something wrong or using less than optimal settings? I'm not in the market right now for an ISF calibration due to the expense. Thanks!

I can't remember exactly, but I believe it was between 35-40fL. I'll check to see if I have my session readings saved.

It sounds like a panel problem. I wouldn't want to bet that it's not the panel.

On my 70X5 brightness +1, backlight -1 and contrast at 25 results in FL of about 27 with LD on and ~50FL with IVC Low on at 100%. Measured with a Chroma 5 Pro.

Cracked my 70" stand and I'm wondering if anyone here that has wall mounted their panel would be willing to sell me the stand. Thanks.

I think he removed it - couldn't find the post ... maybe he just discovered the 80" was correct but the Elite wasn't ...
