Why would we be pissed off? That we can finally (hopefully) buy a set that continues the reference PQ performance from.........2008? Your not making any sense.

Anyway. My bestbuy is getting the elite in this weekend. Im going to bring the display murderer harry potter ATHBP to see if the blacks hold up to my 151. My jaw dropped when i put that movie on for the first time on my kuro. Really, really dark blacks in that movie.

I won't be buying this set. I just wanny see how good the TV is and if it lives up to the hype.

You'd be surprised how many kuro owners its going to piss off. Main reason. It's an lcd. Not a plasma.

And yes. This tv as stated before isn't hype.

I guess i can understand the problem with that. LCD tech has its problems but from what i've read about the elite so far those problems have been reduced. Still there though.

It really doesn't bother me that it might be an LCD thats beats the kuro. My first HDTV was a samsung LCD and i still have and watch it. Plasma PQ has spoiled me i'll say. Not gonna lie.

Agreed. Lcd does indeed still have problems. As does plasma. Both have gotten much much much better over the years. This elite set is more of a statement to show the improvements of lcd tech can be applied to sets today.

Good point, and an under-appreciated fact. Projector owners will be the first to admit their systems don't equal a plasma in some aspects, but these shortcomings are more than made up for in size.

I like projector for one reason only. Size. It's freakin awesome playing Gears Of War on a 10FT screen. lol

Nice pics Radtech! Thanks man! Can't wait to get my hands on mine (should be later this week/early next), as Robert and team are calibrating it this week. Just picked up an Oppo95 and after deploying it tonight, I definitely bought the right bluray player...not to mention all the other stuff it does. Incredible machine IMO! Now, bring on the Elite70!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

is there any blue overdrive trailing? I'm asking that because so far all Sharp Quattron television suffered of that issue (therefore I returned mine). How are the colors compared to the normal Sharp Quattron television? Because I'm actually not so pleased by the way Quattron changed the colors.

In post #38 on the first picture on the right eye I can see some blue which reminds me exactly of the blue overdrive trailing I had on my LE925e.

^I'm guessing you'll be assured that either: 1) No, you don't see blue like that at all in person, and in this instance the photo is not doing the panel justice; or 2) yes it looks just like the photo IRL, but that's exactly how the director intended his face to appear in that scene. It's a very blue movie.

Hmm, what is that? It might just be a reflection off the actor's eye. You can see some of that blue reflection on parts of his face. What movie is that from, it's not Avatar too is it? I'd like to see that scene myself on my displays. Sonicblue, how often did you see that anomaly on your Sharp? If this is somehow a byproduct of the yellow pixels, it would make no sense since RadTech took those shots in the THX mode which shuts off the yellow pixels. Weird. I see no evidence of it in other pix.

As I've said before, give any display time in owner's hands and issues (if this is an issue) will surface. Nothing is perfect.

There were some discussions about that blue overdrive trailing at the LE925 topic. Also flatpanelshd.com mentioned it in their reviews. It looks very similar to phosphor trailing on plasma televisions. It takes some time to recognize it but once you saw it you always see it. If you put the TV to black and white you can test it because there you can see it all the time and everywhere.

The picture looks like it's from Star Trek, isn't it? If you tell me the exact time of the scene I will check it on an LG and Samsung TV to see if there is any blue on the eye.

Having seen this set in kinda/sorta normal light environment, I would say the normal caveat applies that applies to pdps - don't expect to be able to do critical viewing in bright daylight with windows (unless you can control that window with blinds or shades).

That pic is from Avatar - not the movie to evaluate if you are looking for some kind of blue push.

Can someone check that out with Star Trek (it doesn't look like it's from Avatar) to see if that scene of the eyes shows that same bluish area on the right side? If someone else, with a different brand, shows the same depiction than we can put this to rest. Otherwise there may be an issue.

Hey Radtech! Congrats, really happy for you but I'm waiting for next years Gen2 and will slum with my D8000 60" until next year at a third of the price but this TV sounds and looks exciting.

However, did you read about the Elite Killer on FlatpanelsHD where Sharp displayed an 85" 8Kx4K at IFA they described as Jaw Dropping!

While it's real it's unlikely Sharp will have this baby anytime soon but it's showing the sudden diversity and innovation of Sharp in 2011. Enjoy your well deserved panel!

anyone in the nyc area know which magnolia's have this? called a few and none had it available or knew when it would be coming in.

Spiff, I looked for it but couldn't find it. I found virtually every other scene but not that one. If you or someone else could point me to a time code for that scene that would be great!

Same response I got yesterday. One guy at a Magnolia I visited in Westbury said 'a month or two', but could point me to the spot in one of their theater rooms where it will go.

LOL, i'm hitting the same brick wall. you would think they'd get some samples out to nyc at least.
