Sharp is exchanging your elite just for dse? Then considering i have , a dead pixel, and possibly other pq/color defect that someone else got exchanged for AND major DSE all the time which is one of but not only things making the picture look so disappointing, then Im sure they will exchange for me and maybe The merchant i bought from will get off easy having sharp exchange it for me though I still kind of want to return it because I dont have confidence that a replacement will be much better.
But it did take us a second try to get a good samsung un65cc8000 so I guess I owe to Robert and Sharp/Elite to see if we get a good display on the 2nd try. And I know some ppl tried 5 or more times with the 65c8000 as it seemed like only 1 in 5 or so were acceptable while the Elite seems to have very few defective units. I just happened to get unlucky I guess.
The problem is if Sharp does the exchange, I worry they won't wall mount the new one. But they will have to take the old one off the wall and take the mount off the back of the tv they are taking back at the very least.
Again, I'd honestly probably rather return it at this point and either get it again from BB later for less and where I have no trouble with a return or exchange where as The merchant i bought from has yet to even offer either of those as a solution and rather is trying to deny a display that he has never seen (came to me unopened) is not defective.
I wish there was another 70" or larger led lcd option but there still isnt any other afaik. Samsung 75-80" cant come soon enough. Heck id even try the LG 72" because this elite is considersbky worse then my sam un65c8000 and for this much money but lower pq not to memtion thicker then the samsung and not as nice looking aesthetically especially the ugly gold 80's looking elite letters (even the Sharp light up star trek symbol is better) making me wonder why I paid more for an uglier set that looks no better then the 732 and far inferior to our sam un65c800.
So Id rather just return and then I can get one again from a more local less obstinate merchant which I won't have to worry about difficulty with replacement or return (again The merchant hasn't even mentioned either as an option). Or maybe I just get a 735 since I don't see the Elite looking any better then it. Or maybe the 80" though I want to wait for a 3d version of that. Or just for the elite to come down to a price where it's actually a proper value because right now with a thicker heavy unattractive frame/housing, ugly 80's gold letters. Which is my least favorite emblem of any tv out right now and I think ppl just like the word and feeling special Cus it says it elite but maybe the joke is on us cus it's the ugliest emblem if anything out and doesn't even light up though I understand some ppl prefer that turned off anyway on other TVA and maybe secretly the joke is on us Elite owners because the set is secretly no better then the 735 and we've all been fooled?
I guess this is why for The mercants sake plus Sharp/Elite, and all owners of this tv possibly getting upset of our (and anyone who comes over) poor opinion of it, they need to replace it ASAP so that we can see what everyone is claiming is such a great tv and picture that we are seeing quite the opposite of so to just return it and maintain this poor opinion (worst tv and pq of any tv in the house and that we've had for several years for that matter).
And that would be a shame to just return and maintain this poor opinion and experience which will keep us from ever wanting to buy from this merchant again (in this our first experience) or any Sharp tv for that matter. So I hope between the merchant and the manufac. they figure out a way to get us a replacement ASAP and back in the wall mount otherwise I would honestly tater just return it regardless of how fast they can replace it but if they can donor fairly quick then Im willing to give a replacement a chance only because I figure I owe that to the merchant, Sharp/Elite, other owners and ourselves. But again I'm leaning towards return because even if pq is suddenly magically better and what all other owners rave about (maybe bias?) the aesthetics and other things we highly dislike about this set like the ugly low quality remote with a hide Netflix button on it which is something we don't need and a company whose stick has plummeted and is possibly going out of business.
Hopefully The merchant gets on facilitating an exchange ASAP because if I have to pay a calibrater to come out just to then have to talk to Sharp to get an exchange the way the other guy had to, then I'd rather just return the Elite 70.
