WMC does not sleep after finishing a record session

My Windows Media Center PC wakes from sleep to record. It does not go back to sleep after the recording is finished.

It can sleep just fine otherwise. I don't like to wake up to find my PC still running.

Win7x64.

Make sure it is not displaying live tv when you leave it to sit. I usually stop playback and go to the main screen and let it wake itself/sleep for recordings, but it won't sleep if it is playing live tv or a movie.

I close WMC after I set the recording. Then I put it to sleep. It wakes fine, but does not go back to sleep after recording.

Any other suggestions?

Do you have WMC to open up to live TV by default? Or does WMC open up to the guide (EPG)? If wmc is in either of these states, it will not sleep.

Why do you close wmc before putting to sleep. You could simply sleep from the "power" menu in wmc.

How I do it is to set recordings, then hit the stop button on my wmc remote (if currently watching live tv). That usually dumps me to the large guide view. Then I hit the back button on my wmc remote and that dumps me back out to the main wmc home screen. Then I put computer to sleep and it wakes to record and goes back to sleep fine.

One thing you must consider; what is the sleep timeout you have set in the power options for windows? If you are using high performance, wmc likely won't sleep. Also you must have a time value set to go to sleep. Again, in my case, computer wakes directly to wmc to record, then it stays on for ~30 minutes following recording because I have the power settings configured to allow computer to sleep after 30 minutes inactivity. WMC won't go back to sleep if you haven't specified that its allowed to in the power settings outside of wmc. At least in my case.

Thanks for your replies everyone. I found the problem. My creative x-fi audio driver was preventing sleep. The explanation is here:

http://www.quantexzone.com/index.php...es-s&Itemid=56

"Open a command console with administrative priviledges.
Type:
powercfg -requestsoverride DRIVER "Creative X-Fi Audio Processor (WDM)" SYSTEM
Verify that the X-Fi has been added to the override list by typing:
powercfg -requestsoverride"

My power settings are all default in the "Balanced" profile except that I put computer to sleep to "never." However, I have a new sleep issue described in another thread here.

Win7x64. HDHR prime 3cc.
