Mission Impossible: Maximum Impact Collection - Page 3

7mins of action in a 2hr movie. Nice! The bridge sequence was pretty decent.... sounded good anyway. Guy shoots down a GlobalHawk (lol, as a Predator drone) with a G36. Lololololol!

To each their own, dvdmike. Let's go half's on the HK set and you can keep this one.

Lol, the Bridge in DTS-HD

That would be nice.

You know... it's been a few years since I've watched MI3. Well, whenever it was released on dvd. I remember not liking it at all back then and I gave it a few tries, even. Tell you what, I'll watch it tonight (if I remember) and see if maybe it aged better on me. I haven't watched the 2nd in a while too so that might be just as painful but I know and acknowledge that is sucks ass. It's still fun though. MI3 was not fun. MI1 I can watch over and over.

Yes, I've seen M:I:2. Up until the bike chase, nothing happens.

Nothing.

Wheeeeeeeeee! Aren't I cute, jousting with bikes, tangoing with cars, wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

No.

Should have called it Aussie Impossible.

Ahhh.... good fun MI2 was. Friggin' Limp Bizkit does the theme. How is that not an automatic win?

Yes. MI2 was quite terrible but I can admit to it, at least.

Ugh. Yeah those were pretty awful.

Finished watching MI3 on dvd. *shudders*

Still thought it was boring. Hey. I tried. Gave it another shot. : /

Phillip Seymour Hoffman was a good baddie though and the production was good.

Hey hey....saw some lens flares too.

The action was good but the writing in places was awful, the guy nearly ruined Star Trek why they went with his script I will never know.

I love MI2. It's so utterly absurd, you either go with the flow or fight it with every fibre of your being. The bit where Cruise kicks the gun buried the sand and it jumps about 4 feet into the air is my personal highlight.
I would buy Woo's version of M:I-2 before the studio hacks got their hands on it DAY ONE.

The flip kick with roxborough is my particular hilight, I just hate that due to his contract for MI2 Dougray missed out on xmen.

Same goes for Hard Target.

It seems like Face/Off is the only one of his American films that seems to be pretty close to his original vision and even that was edited quite a bit.
I've heard a lot about the uncut version of Hard Target but I didn't know that MI2 was hit as well. You guys have any interesting info about it or maybe a link I can follow?

Hard Target is great unrated

Woo's original cut was about three hours long but the studio wanted a two hour movie and brought in Stuart Baird to hack it to pieces.

The workprint version that lasts about 2 hours is much better. It's the most undiluted film Woo ever made in Hollywood. The action scenes just flow so much better than the version that made it to cinemas (UK or US).

I would hope that we would see that version on Blu-ray but knowing it's in the hands of Universal I have none.

Hey I like MI2! So there dammit! I said it!

Now... I genuinely hope you're joking when you're referring to Limp Bizkit, one of the most awful crap bands I've ever heard. Fortunately they're mostly forgotten now! Stupid no-talent wannabes! I was very disappointed to see their name attached to the film, just yet another "fashionable cash cow" (does that make sense?). Even the Metallica song kinda sucked, but at least it was Metallica.

The big problem with MI2 is that it was designed around stunts before there was even a script. I thought Woo was completely lost after that film until he came back with the epic Red Cliff.

But yeah, I'd buy a Jon Woo director's cut. I'm a sucker like that. Same with Hard Target.

Lol, yes I was kidding about Limp Bizkit.

Ah, just another hater. Limp Bizkit is friggin' amazing. And not forgotten. Maybe in the States where it's cool to hate on them, but they do REALLY well in other countries. Anyway, they did just release a new album earlier this year and it's probably the best album they've done.

Anyhoo, I enjoy MI:2 for what it is. Was it disappointing compared to the first? Sure, but this movie really doesn't try to fool us into thinking it's something that it's not. It's just a pure popcorn action flick, and I thought it was alright. So, yeah. I'm with you on that one. Let the support for MI:2 begin!!!
MI:2 is a really fun movie. Over stylized to the nth degree, white doves flying in every other shot, Ethan winning with magic tricks(gun out of sand... classic), just pop some popcorn and disengage brain.

Limp Bizkit sucks major donkey balls.

And since it comes with a $10 ticket for M:I-4, it's basically $10.

What a let down... still no lossless? Oh well, I can wait a while longer.

To each his own, I guess...

I personally thought MI2 was the weakest of the three. MI1 was great - sort of the same vein of Patriot Games or Clear and Present Danger - a slightly more cerebral action movie. MI3 certainly traded in some brain cells for more action, but it was still very well done. MI2 was just a little too... Woo... All I remember is that hot chick and Tom's slow-motion hair. Nothing of any real interest happened that I can remember. Maybe I'd enjoy it if I gave it another shot...

Mission Impossible: Maximum Impact Collection from Brazil, China, Thailand, Indonesia features high bitrate AVC encode, 48/24 Lossless Audio, but from the same transfers as before.

While I and II are still disappointing in the video department as they feature the old transfers (but with flawless enconde), part III is stunning!!!
