Outdoor speaker surge protection

Hopefully this is the correct place to post. I have a whole house audio amp with outdoor speakers as part of the setup. Lightening struck near the house last month and apparently sent a surge through the speaker lines back to the amp, blowing those two channels.

Does anyone have any info on surge protection for outdoor lines? I looked on line and found something from Grommes and some other folks but would appreciate some practical information. Tangentially related, the same surge blew out my sprinkler controller and pool controller as well!

These are some of the things I've run across:

Panamax MOD-SPKP Outdoor Speaker Signal Line Protection Module - about $35.00

L-Com Outdoor Speakers/Public Address System Protectors - About $50.00

JuiceGoose Modular protection: About $73.00

Grommes-Precision SLS - which actually looks pretty interesting and I believe uses a different concept from the others, reacting to inductance. About $73.00

Another area of interest is whether these could be used to protect sprinkler wires from surges -- my sprinkler control modules also went as a result of the strike.

Yep, every conductive path has to be protected. You got zapped on two of the most frequently overlooked ones. There are devices that can be used to protect the sprinkler controller and just about everything else, so keep looking and you will find them.
