Thanks for the advice on the DIY projector mount holes guys. It arrived early this evening (spent all day waiting!), so i got it set up. Initially it seemed to be working but then i could not get it to keep a lock on the ps3 video connection - tried a different hdmi cable and all is good now. Then i spent ages trying to get good timings for the Monster Vision glasses - btw what timings are you using? I have it set up working really nicely now, i was literally watching Avatar 3D with my mouth wide open
The fan is a bit noisier than i was expecting but still very manageable, and the extra 50% brightness (vs hw30) really does pop. I'm projecting onto a 92" 16:9 screen, the brightness, contrast, improved motionflow, reality creation extra resolution and much reduced crosstalk i swear make it look better than any cinema i've been to!
Later i watched some bits of Transformers 3, some of that is very good, but for the most part it can't touch Avatar.
Tomorrow i'm watching Alien and Aliens with a buddy, and we've booked seats at a luxury cinema for Saturday for Prometheus 3D, so that'll be cool to compare.
Very glad i got it now - with the hdmi problems i was second guessing myself for a couple of mins. I ordered 2 more sets of Monster Vision glasses too so every seat has a pair and no-one has to tolerate the tdg-pj1's, i just can't stand those things. The first 3 sets i bought had the buzzing sound - did they ever fix that?
