So, I'm going through my dealer but they're not moving too fast. I'm gonna light a fire, and send them some pictures....maybe they don't understand and the pix will help.
Anyone have any other ideas?
Yeah man, definitely not an exaggeration. Just from the first picture you posted, I counted over fifty dust blobs (crank the brightness on your screen a little-- they're everywhere!). I can't imagine that's "standard" or "within spec" in any way, shape, or form. It looks like someone dumped a full dust pan on the panel. Just out of curiosity, how many hours do you have on that unit?
When I called to get my first replacement after I found three different issues with my original unit, the guy I spoke with (at the same ES number you called) was pretty rude and unhelpful. He suggested a number of "troubleshooting" steps that I already tried, and when politely I told him that, he told me to "do them again." When I explained to him (again, very nicely) that it would be a waste of my time and his and that I was within my 90 day return window, he grumbled a bit, made some rude comments, and set up the replacement.
The second time I called, the guy was extremely helpful, courteous, and apologetic. I think a lot of it has to do with who you speak to.
That's such a significant issue, it's almost impossible to believe it's not covered. I mean, really, how are you supposed to watch anything with that? Any reasonably dark movie will be completely ruined. If you can't get the response you want, I'd suggest trying the social media route (Facebook and Twitter). A few months ago, I was at my wits end trying to get a code for PlayMemories 4K-- no one I spoke to knew anything about it. I finally reached out to them on Twitter and got the code within two weeks.
Good luck!
