Actually I don't know damned well any such thing. I've researched the Lumagen quite heavily before I recently bought the 2041 model, both professional reviews and AVS end user reports generally on Lumagen product. I saw lots of praise to be sure, but it seemed entirely genuine and warranted, and I also saw bugs or issues flagged both in reviews and by otherwise happy end users. I did not see anything indicating the dishonesty you suggest, nor any reason why any particular person would give a dishonest review, misrepresenting the product. Can you point to any actual examples?
The thing is, I believe we should be very scrupulous when raising the charge of dishonesty both aimed at professional reviewers or AVS members. And raising vague suspicions doesn't help. It's like walking into a room and saying "Look, I know there are a lot of liars in here..." The person saying this seems to imagine he has not actually besmirched anyone because he hasn't pointed a finger or "named names." But what he doesn't realize is that sending vague generalizations at a group of people, he's really just thrown a bunch of mud over everyone
in terms of suspicion. It's not a respectful way to do it; it's the opposite, it leaves everyone wondering "who are you talking about????" Because no one knows if the charge is actually accurate, or rightly placed on any particular person. So just imagine how you would feel about the guy who simply states there are a lot of liars in the room, the room that includes you and your friends...and he just leaves the charge hanging in the air essentially covering anyone as a possibility. I suspect you won't feel to enamored by such an approach.
So saying there are "possibly dishonest reviews by many folks, including some that post on AVS"...and then following that up your saying you have no idea if there are any going around or not...doesn't do anything
but sling mud in every blind direction. What good can it do?
(Sorry...but this is a pet peeve of mine. I used to review audio equipment and there were so many unfounded mud-slinging assumptions and generalizations made by people on forums that it got tiring just combating the unfounded suspicions and slagging).
