Hi. I was wondering if someone could explain how to calculate where to put my front speakers. I understand the speakers should be at a 30 or 45 degree angle from center. Is there a special equation that you use or a special tool similar to a laser level to figure out where exactly those degrees are. Thanks for any help.

Dolby recommends 22-30 degrees for 5.1 or 7.1.

Figure out your primary listening distance (straight ahead) from the speakers and multiply by 0.40 (22 deg) and 0.58 (30 deg).

Use any # between to give you the distances from the center.

FWIW, a 45 deg angle would mean the "x" and "y" distances are equal.
