New Girl on FOX HD - Page 10

Another solid episode. I loved Past Nick lecturing future Nick, referring to him as a magnificent dumbass. Picking on Winston's earrings led to some good insults too - "Captain Black Sparrow".

Favorite line was past Nick advising them to be nicer to coach so he doesn't leave them to live with a group of different white people.

This show really found itself and has been really solid with everyone in the case contributing. Last night was great. Schmidt's intermittent pain has me in tears. (Best was when Jess described Jen as the Asian version of herself).

"Hello, Nick, you magnificent dumbass. You decided to get back with Caroline? Well congratulations, you idiot. She destroyed you. [Pulls out a jar holding a clear liquid] These, my dumb friend, are your tears. You saved them all. Think back, Nick -- or whatever they call you in your times. Who dumped you three times? Once before your brother's wedding! This is the poem you wrote about Caroline: 'Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? No, a summer's day is not a bitch.' Look at how far you've come. Want to be a bartender forever, pal? You want to be a grown man who dresses like an unsponsored professional skateboarder? You don't want to live like this. You're movin' on! [Double barrels Jack and beer] Hey, what's the different between me and Bill Cosby? [does Cosby jazz hands]"
And later... "Now that I've got your attention, Future Nick, there are few things I'd like to talk to you about: Be nicer to your mom when she calls. Stop giving yourself high fives. Put your head under water, you 2-year-old! Be nicer to Coach or he's going to take off... live with a bunch of other white people. ... I know karate! ... I'm Nick, I'm grumpy, I'm going to put my baby hood on! Sex is a sprint, not a marathon. [singing] You are special, you are special! [abruptly stops to look around] We'll see each other in the future."

That was awesome.

It turned out to be a simple case of Jess being a Caucasian Jen.

Winston's ear ring was hilarious

I nearly gave up on this show earlier in the season as it lacked something I couldn't put my finger on. Now, whatever "it" is, they have it.

The cast and writers have really hit their groove, the guest actors elicit almost as many laughs as the regulars (the Russian girl was hilarious), etc.

This show is must-see for me now.

"Be nicer to Coach, or he's gonna take off, and live with a bunch of other white people".

Does anybody know who the actress was that played Asian Jess? I missed the credits, don't have the episode recorded. and can't find the answer on IMDB. There's a hot debate at my house as to whether it was Ellen Wong, aka Knives Chau.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2878390/

Which brings to mind something I'm ashamed of myself for thinking

She'd make a good astronaut?

Thanks! Much appreciated.

The 200 mile high club?

Pretty good season finale. I'm definitely going to miss this show until next fall but the image of CeCe straddling a missile will sustain me until then I think

Winston had the best line of the night re: Schmidt

"He's a Jew in the desert. I don't want him to wander."

I think they sacrificed laughs for being touching and warm and fuzzy. The average viewer seems to require that sort of show from time to time, and if Jess and Nick hook up in the future we may be up to our armpits in it.

But when they're funny they're really funny.
I thought it was a funny episode. Some laugh out loud moments
post #285 of 427
They needed the douche jar...

Schmidt was being a little douchey there and no jar to contribute to.
Don't you love Schmidt!? I wish i could be that neat and organized (as well as buff) while still being quirky and awesome. Do we really need to wait a whole year?frown.gif

I got a kick over the gang discussing how young Nick's new girlfriend is. They said something along the lines of "She doesn't even know what Netscape is," and "She thinks Ice-T has always mainly been an actor."
That one was spot on, i'm 23 and just getting to the point where people younger than you don't know what you're talking about at certain times. It's a trip when you realize you are starting to get old, i'm reminded of the teens on twitter saying "I didn't know Titanic was real! I thought it was just another movie i hadn't seen" when Titanic 3D came out.

Really good episodes last night. This show has quickly gone from quirky Zoe vehicle to one of tv's best comedy ensembles. Loved Winton's drunk singing, but they need to start working him more into episodes instead of constantly being a tertiary character.
I thought the second was better than the first, but the first episode wasn't bad. The time traveling Nicks was a good bit, and the confrontation in the bathroom was hilarious. I do agree they need to do something more with Winson.
I liked the first episode better. The 2nd one with her having 2 guys knowing her by a different name and then all being in the same place was just to sitcom cliche.

Winston's sister is so hot.. IDK any WNBA players, but were they real or actresses? (they looked real players to me.. LOL)

Keenyah Hill was 3rd place at America's Next top Model Season 4... mmm
post #291 of 427
Liked the second ep, the first seemed tiresome. Epsodes with too much quirky Deschanel business are beginning to set my teeth on edge. I know it's her show, but the episodes when the males are really rolling are the funniest, at least to me. If this is a widespread opinion, this might be hard for Zooey and her ego to take.

It seems to be that way. I wish they'd get Winston more involved though. When Schmidt, Nick, and Winston are alone, those are some of the best scenes. Last season when they were teaching Nick how to get rid of a woman he slept with showed such great chemistry. Granted when Zoe showed up in that scene she made it even better. I think the writers get it, thus the episode last season dedicated to Nick's girlfriend berating Zoe for being too quirky.

I read that Olivia Munn will be Nick's new girlfriend. I think she's hot but there's a lot of mixed reviews out there. She won't be on the show for long because she'll be returning for season 2 of Newsroom

If this is true New Girl will be halfway finished with getting NBC's old Perfect Couples cast to appear on the show.

Olivia Munn? Well, I guess most shows have at least one person to stink it up.

Munn was great on Newsroom, so I'll wait to see her performance in this before I judge it.

that's exactly my take. the less jess the better.

I thought last night's episode was pretty good. The scene where Nick tries to give Schmidt a Star of David cookie was hilarious. I also liked Jess trying to be a model. It was a scene that would have fit in I Love Lucy.

The Ford ads were a bit much, but still hilarious in the modelling scene.
