I guess the leather (pleather?) was somehow related to the thing Eddie Murphy wore during a stand-up routine? I'm not exactly sure.

Yeah, it was really funny- I replayed it a few times- you had to watch till the very end of the credits and it actually had faded to black and was audio only at that point.
I just pictured Jess turning to Nick then uttering the "ruh-roh" line biggrin.gif

Looking back- New Girl has improved considerably since it's start to a constantly enjoyable show. It's very refreshing to see a comedy that actually gets smarter as it ages. Once they cut out Jess's goofy/capricious behavior the series really took off.

In comparison, the other 'Girl' show, 2 Broke Girls has gone nowhere if not down quality wise since it's launch and constantly dips into the old joke bag of just saying body parts as many times as they can for laugh.

I thought the first 2 or 3 episodes weren't so good but since then its been at least solid every week. Actually, with Community being pretty mediocre this season, New Girl has become my favorite sitcom.

2 Broke Girls is just Two and a Half Men with women in the lead, but somehow even dumber. I've watched maybe 3 episodes.

Since Charlie left- I stopped watching Two and a Half Men. If it weren't for Kat D. I wouldn't watch 2 Broke Girls either- it's just not that funny/interesting.

As an Eddie Murphy fan, I can't make the link between him and Winston either. I don't get the relevance of wearing the Murphy-inspired red leather outift. The episode was great though. Probably the best comedy on TV right now.

We finally watched the latest episode. Pretty funny parts.

The only thing I'm having trouble with is that Nick and Schmidt are completely unbelievable as human beings. I know TV characters sometimes are exaggerated for comedy's sake, but people never act like that.

Anyone else think Cece won't actually be married? They've tried to make her fiance likable and whatnot, but it doesn't fit in with the overall theme of the characters?

I bet Schmidt will do whatever is possible to break this wedding off and steal the bride.

Can't wait for tonight..

You called it!
Hilarious when Nick, Jess and the badger broke through the air duct vent... right on to the altar! biggrin.gif

Good season finale! As an Indian guy, seeing Zoey in a sari was heaven smile.gif

The ending with CeCe calling off the wedding was contrived but have to believe it was nod to a typical Bollywood plot device.

The Taylor Swift cameo was a bit of surprise too.
My favorite line from last night was Winston, looking down from the air con grate: "Boobies!"
Yeah I thought Taylor Swift was going to sing at the wedding, guess not!

All went well except Schmidt not choosing any of the two...

So I guess Cece keeps her tattoo?

There was much to love last night. Insane prankster Winston. Schmidt's amazing reaction faces. The badger. What a great ending to a great season. Favorite comedy right now for me.

Yeah, that goes without saying smile.gif

Shivrang has to be kicking himself that he never got to hit that!

I forgot about Taylor Swift being in the episode.

My favorite line was when Winston asked to bartender to call an ambulance eek.gifbiggrin.gif

And cue the Cotton Eye Joe....

And Winston's best line of the night:

Nobody to blame but his own damn self.

This one had so much plot to advance that it skimped on the surrealistic crazy that characterized the best New Girl shows. But it was okay. And interesting that Taylor Swift is a fan.

IIRC, there was a scene in the last episode where they were lying in bed together and he tried to get something going but CeCe shot him down. He should have seen the writing on the wall there.

I enjoyed that finale.

Ha, yeah, she's overrated IMHO.

Love this show.

The flashback to Nick + Jess in the car listening to Cotton Eye Joe... and Jess asking "Why did you need me for this" was actually one of the best lines I thought.

They also missed a golden opportunity for someone (my gut said Nick) to say "Badger? We don't need no stinking badger"

I gotta say how much I appreciate this show; after trying to watch Family Tools on ABC (and feeling sorry for JK Simmons, who deserves better) we switched over to this finale. It really made me realize how hard it is to do a comedy show that's actually funny. Hats off to these guys.

+1
I've been watching the train wreck known as 2 Broke Girls- which has been consistently inconsistent, disappointing and crude this season. In comparison- New Girl has risen far above it's contemporaries this season...

I gave up on 2 Broke Girls this season. My wife followed a few episodes later. Just some real obnoxious characters.

What is funny is that I thought I would eventually stop watching New Girl, not becuase of Jess being so adorkable, but because Schmit was such a douche. But the writers embraced what a douche he was and it is really working well.

I think it works because they have given him many likeable qualities that balance out his douchiness. He's become a douche with a heart of gold.
Yeah... Schmidt isn't trying to be a douche... he just can't help himself.

And truthfully, the original Jess character in the first few episodes was more obnoxious than then other three characters put together- but they re-wrote her character to be less capricious and much more likeable- but still with a few quirks. Overall they've tweaked what they needed to and the show's a pleasure to watch without being as crude as 2 Broke Girls.
