I Cancelled My Netflix Subscription Today

Yep...sure did and I have moved to Vudu. They have a higher quality streaming service (HDX) that is alomost close to Blu-ray.

Here's what I did...bought aeam STB on eBay for cheap, hooked it up and marveled at Vudu's high quality streams and so far have not experienced any issues with stutter, choppiness, buffering or drop outs.

Their content sounds (5.1) and looks fantastic. Also, they have a better selection of movies. IMO if you want better quality streams Vudu is by far the best choice!

What is that?

Except for the fact that it's a per usage model instead of a subscription model so if you rent two HDX movies outside of any sales, you basically pay more than you would for unlimited streaming of TV shows and Movies with Netflix. I don't use either service but Netflix seems to be the better deal if you watch a lot of movies. If quality is tantamount, wouldn't you just buy the Bluray, rip it to MKV or ISO and stream that over your network?

This ^.

Vudu is great, I agree, but it's a totally different model. If the wife and I ever want to watch a fairly new release, Vudu is a great option. But we watch so much Netflix streaming for just 7.99 a month it's insane.

I feel you on that. If you want to watch a lot of movies and accept the fact they're going to be older movies then Netflix is the way to go. I'm so used to watching higher quality content via blu-ray that anything less is a problem for me. That's one of the reasons I added the Vudu service. It's another option to have.

You also pay over double for vudu then you do next flix. I agree. Vudu is better. But its price makes it not ideal.

Vudu and netflix streaming compliment each other. I use both services regularly. As well as Netflix Disc rentals and Blockbuster Disc rentals.

Never been big on Stars Wars. Don't feel like spending time re-visiting the Indiana Jones either. Perhaps a re-master Abyss and Encounter Third Kind maybe.

Waiting for stuff in the mail is just a drag. On-demand online is the future for me.

I don't use the On Demand as much now as I used to three years ago. I used VUDU alot back then. I still use it and other VOD services but Netflix streaming has cut into that. Plus I'm renting more BD titles now than I used to since I don't buy them like I did in the early days of BD(and HD DVD)

Dropped streaming..added blockbuster. So far blockbuster has been much slower delivering to my location
Netflix: 3 day turnaround (distribution center 1.5 hours)
BB: 6+ days.distribution 3.5 hours)

Are you still on the free trial period with BB? I remember when I first subscribed to BB, during the trial period I could get 1 disk/week. After I started paying for the service turn-around time was in the 3-day range like I get now with Netflix.

I didn't cancel Netflix, but with the new plans I did immediately drop the streaming option (which was useless for me) and saved $2 on my disk plan.

My trial just ended 2 days ago. I like being able to get new releases, but will hold onto Netflix (2 at a time); which seems to have more TV series.

So they revised their subsriptions down 1 million. And their financial guidance is staying the same.

they still expect to start increasing subscriptions again in 4Q.

I just hope they send me the star wars BDs. Netflix didn't ship them today so I hope I still get them sent tomorrow.
