As far as the possibility of adding Netflix to the DVR; it's possibile with
a future software update but we do not have any information confirming it
will happen. For now, the CM7400 will include the VUDU video streaming
service as well as a large number of various web media applications such as
Facebook, Pandora, ect."
I really want to like this product, but the fact that it can't stream from netflix is a killer- I'll probably get a tivo.If someone is getting this 7400, they are probably are frugal and don't want to rent a box from a cable company, right? Well, why would this same person want to spend $4 to watch just ONE tv show off of VUDU? Oh, I know- I should buy this box and spend another $70 on a seperate internet streaming box, then swap around inputs and audio inputs on the reciever to watch different stuff- yeah, real swift!I really don't see the wisdom in picking the most expensive internet delivery service as the only app on this box. Add to that the $400 cost and I think these things will stay in their packing boxes, collecting dust in a warehouse.
There are a lot of less expensive products that should work with Netflix. I can think of several Blu-ray players that will give you the movies & old TV shows for well under 1/2 the price of this box.
It's appeal for me is primarily the QAM tuner and storage capacity. And HD. I have the Magnavox 515H with 50 hours of really good SD digital quality, plus four Sony DHG units with 30 hours each of 1080i/5.1 plus TVGOS. But the DHG is old and can't last forever.
I also have the BV-980H which, being kind, makes a good ts file.
If this item ever ships at $299, I will get one just to play with. I like expensive toys. I already have a HD STB from my cable company. I'm just not a big movie person. But I do like to record a whole season of a show and watch all the episodes at once. I receive zero OTA, so if this thing works with my 120+ clear QAM channels, it will be worth the price even though the guide is not going to function.
