Just came back from a press screening (friend put me on the list) in 70mm IMAX. Thought it was a blast. Those familiar with earlier Trek movies will recognize elements (thereby predicting some of what's coming).
The editing was great, as it maintained a steady storytelling pace throughout the film. Speaking of 'film', when the IMAX screen opened up for some of the scenes, it was spectacular (I doubt the changing aspect ratio will be as dramatic with digital IMAX and its shorter height).
Sound mix was terrific. Considering IMAX theatres only use 5 speakers when showing Hollywood movies, there was lots of phantom imaging along the side walls and directly behind and even overhead (quick scene at the end when the screen is dark).
Finally, the acting was a noticeably better than the first film. Good sequel, worth seeing on the big screen (film-based IMAX if possible).
