Star Trek 2 - Page 22

I think they should bring in something new. Like Cylons!

Ok, kidding! I agree about the recycled story. Even as much as I like Undiscovered Country, and as interesting as I think it would be (modernized) I just don't want to see that again. I do like the idea of a new Klingon (as enemies) storyline though.

Depends on how said cylons would look! As far as I'm concerned they can even bring in Starbuck:

Few liked her in 24...but I did. If anyone was in her space when she turned, she knocked them back about 20 feet. wink.gif

Missed?
Nah, the time I would have spent watching BSG gave me an opportunity to learn valuable life lessons.....such as:
1) Never try to walk on ice
2) Four beers qualifies as "intoxication" under Oregon Law
3) Never underestimate the intelligence of a raccoon
4) Always make sure the window is rolled down before spitting out of a car

Yours are certainly words to live by, especially the advice to avoid spitting out of a car before first insuring that the window is down. I would love to learn the backstories that gave rise to all this wisdom, especially the warning that four beers qualifies as intoxication in Oregon. smile.gif

Genesis of The Borg.

May be they don't use breathalyzer in OR. Obviously 4 beers to 150 lbs person isn't same as to 250 lbs person. BTW, how did we get to this in ST 2 thread? eek.gif Unless we want to talk about synthehol.

Stories?
You betcha...I got 'em.tongue.gif

If you ever make it out my way, lemme know.
I'm buyin'.wink.gif

And, before I forget, another important Life Lesson:
Having a "tiger by the tail" is really NOT a good thing....(just trust me on this one).

Sadly, they do.

I have always heard this....
However, I think the deciding factor may be the age and general health of the liver in question.

Well since we're derailed anyway. Alcohol content plays a part...There is one ale from Guinness that comes in at 7 percent, now drink 4 of those and you're drunk in any state, happy smile.gif but drunk. You'll have to excuse me now there is a Red Hook calling my name. biggrin.gif

All I did was suggest introducing Cylons. That's all. Man, can you imagine if all of us met up at comic con? Really, don't respond to that. All we all need to know is somewhere along the line Oink would say "I got an idea." and the story would end with "...and then we ran!"

The creation of the Borg.....that's interesting. Since we're only two posts away from getting derailed again...biggrin.gif.....I'll go ahead and set the bait. Do we bring Jeri Ryan back? Or bring Katee Sackhoff in as Seven of Nine?

(I know 7 was much later in life but just go with it)
What about V'Ger??? Maybe V'Ger and the whale probe can both come back and we can recycle every plot point from the original films all at once! Better throw in a Klingon warbird that can fire when cloaked and the Nexus ribbon just to be safe.

While I love the idea of a Borg-based Star Trek film, considering how cool it could be with modern movie tech and budgets, there would be a problem with continuity. The Borg weren't even discovered until the Picard era, about 70 years after the Kirk era.

It frightens me that I know this.

What Oink isn't telling you is that all of those lessons were learned on the same evening as part of the same event. smile.gif

Continuity's already been thrown to the wind by the Abrams movies. Not to mention the Enterprise prequel series, which also broke prior canon by including the Borg.

Well I think that's the idea of the "Genesis of the Borg" concept. In my mind, it's not so much about the Borg as we know it in the TNG story lines but rather how it came into existence. In fact, to me the ST3 story could be something seemingly unrelated to the Borg establishment that leads up to the "shocking revelation" at the end of the film that those events in fact caused the initial establishment of the Borg. We wouldn't even have to see the Borg (as we know it) IMO. I'm kind of thinking how they did The Terminator. They guy was working on the chip that led to the development of machines that would attempt to take over the world. Something similar but with less reveal.

Seriously? frown.gif http://blog.zap2it.com/pop2it/katee-sackhoff-riddick.jpg
People may not notice if Denis Leary was cast instead. With Borg costume and makeup, it's a sure shot. http://images.moviefanatic.com/iu/t_xlarge_l/v1364991497/amazing-spider-man-star-denis-leary.jpg

LOL.
FWIW, I do have stories with endings like that from the days of my youth.tongue.gif

But as they say,

My mistake was to look up the images on my own. Only if you posted some, none of this would've happened. frown.gif

I think a project (TV series, anyways) based on the Klingons could be interesting. Maybe we could finally see that frakkin' famous "Battle at Kiddemar" that was always referenced, amongst other things.

Interesting.
