As a quick reminder, the film is directed by franchise mainstay Barry Sonnenfeld and stars Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin and Alice Eve. While plot details are not available in abundance, we do know that the film will feature a time-traveling element that sees Agent J (Smith) go back in time to save a young Agent K (Brolin) while averting a world-ending disaster.

Cool! I was hoping they'd make a MIB3. Heh, even got Josh Brolin. Sweet! Hope this one isn't as dumb as the 2nd one though. Ugh.

Here is the official trailer.

One of the most troubled productions in recent memory. All the makings of a huge disaster and after the lame, not-funny MiB2, who the hell thought this was a good idea?
Yeah, this one looks pretty silly like MiB2 but 2012-enized. Bummer. : /

I like the more mature Will Smith we've seen in movies like I Am Legend and Seven Pounds. This looks like the old (as in younger) Will Smith, only less likeable.

Many 3D films are released in IMAX 3D theaters

That mustache makes Will Smith look so old now.

Here's the latest from the LA Times today:

"Despite all of the film's obstacles, Sony executives believe they have a hit on their hands. Pre-release "tracking" surveys indicate that moviegoers' interest in "Men in Black 3" is solid if not spectacular in the United States, and is through the roof across Europe and in such fast-growing markets as Russia and Brazil. Today, overseas ticket sales for big 3-D Hollywood movies frequently outsize their take at the North American box office. And Smith is a proven box-office draw around the world."

But with a cost of $375 million (including worldwide marketing), I'm wondering if Sony has a "John Carter" on their hands?

375 million!!!!!! Holy ****. That is just criminal.

It's somethin'

Production crew hanging out for months on the clock.
Mr Smith gotta eat! (or pay for his new galactic palace)

Prometheus came in 200 million less. Go figure that

Im not bothering to see it in theatre I will wait for blu ray.

I dunno, I sense they have a real stinker on their hands.

When they can't even make the trailers look good...

This was a bad move by Sony and Smith. Because of a preexisting fan base, I won't say "John Carter II" but the concept is stale and the budget is ludicrous at best. >$150MM gross....Any takers?

$375m....man, that's a lot of dough....

I screened it today and enjoyed it. Much better than the second movie. Not quite as good as the first, but the gap isn't huge. Good post-production 3D as well.

But that includes marketing right? The article mentions a production budget of $250... Most of the biggest blockbusters are probably above $300 millions easily when marketing costs are added.
Marketing used to be the same amount as the production costs. But when I read that production costs were at $100M. Since then the production costs has gone up, and I dont know if marketing has increased with the same proportions.

Do anybody know what the avarage marketing costs are for a big budget movie today?

Is it bad that I didn't even realize this was opening this weekend?
Yeah, that's bad.

My wife fell asleep during MIB the other night. She had never seen it.

I have zero desire to pay to see this film. I'm going to see some Ridley Scott films in 35mm instead...

I had no idea. Probably because I had no intentions of seeing it, though.

Not really check the the blu ray software forum and Ralph's review soon it will hit blu ray before we know it.

I didn't like either of the first two movies. If the reviews are poor, I won't go see this either. The current trailers coulda been used for any of the movies. I think I'll go see the Jack Black movie instead.

Took my kids and a few of their friends to see this today... in 3D even. I'll admit, I found it more entertaining than I had anticipated. It was a fun time.
