Ok i been looking but can not find an answer.
I have a 3D ready tv.
I do not have a blu-ray player.
If i get a 3d blu-ray player such as a DMP-BDT210, will it play normal 2D out put to the TV or is it always 3D?
Thanks

3d blu-ray players can play both 3d and 2d content.

Yes got that part, maybe not sure how to ask what I am looking for.
I mean the output video is it always in 3D to the TV or can you choose 2D or 3D?
Thanks again.

Hmm I think I know what you're asking. If it's playing 3d content it will output in 3d format. And that can either be in the older checkerboard format or the current format. If it's playing 2d material it will output in standard format and work with any tv it's connected to.

- If you play a 2d disc, it will by default output 2d to whatever tv it is hooked up to.

- If you play a 3d disc, it will by default output 3d if it is hooked up to a 3d tv. Most 3d discs have the option to play back in 2d if you select it, and such discs will automatically play back in 2d when hooked uo to a 2d-only tv. Some 3d discs (such as disney 3d discs, and certain "exclusive" titles) only have the 3d version (they have 2d playback locked). Such discs will give you an error message that they require a 3d tv if they detect they are hooked up to a 2d tv.

- If your blu-ray player or tv have a "2d-3d conversion" option, a 2d disc can be played in "upconverted" as you put it (on-the-fly) 3d on a 3d tv.

Does that cover it all?
