'Whitney' on NBC HD - Page 8

We watched it. Whitney the character was crazy and not the funny kind of crazy. The plot didn't make sense, and Whitney the actress didn't seem to be in the game.

I'll give it another chance, but outlook isn't good for me, for this season. frown.gif

The Neal question seems to be settled: Pancholy's name was not in the credits and he made no appearance, and there were references to Neal regarding the events of Season 1 but nothing about Neal's present status or whereabouts.  For now, the core cast is a quintet.

Not a good start... I feel like we're watching Whitney's personal life with this Alex guy rather than another sitcom... On top of that the content (mostly female) is of insanity which will spread... Strike that... Make real life females even more insane. Although since no one was watching this and probably watch something to do with the kardashians... We're all screwed any how...

Watched tonight's episode out of boredom and I didn't laugh at all. Whitney is pretty though biggrin.gif

As long as you're deaf she's not bad.

I remember she was on a roast and after she was done Greg Giraldo comes up and says "Thank you Whitney, for yelling your act at us as always."

I thought tonight's episode was much better than last weeks, and actually enjoyed it. I think I see where they are going with her character, and it could be an interesting ride. I'm in for the duration.

Tanking FAST...

This episode wasn't any worse. We'll keep watching, but I'm doubtful i'll stay on board all season

I'm not confident that NBC will either.

Not that bad this time.

The addition of Tone Bell answers the questions of whether and how they'd fill in the gap left by Maulik Pancholy's return to "30 Rock."  Since "30 Rock" will be wrapping early, I suppose that opens the door for Pancholy to do a guest shot if "Whitney"'s season lasts that long and Cummings wants an appearance by Neal.

I think Cummings 2BG's is funnier than her own show... I still like to watch her though..

If I stopped watching this show or missed an episode I wouldn't miss it.

I could live without it and won't be sad when it's canceled, but as long as there are new episodes and I've a DVR and can timeshift them to a more convenient hour, I'll stick with it.  It's good for twenty-two minutes of brain rest after an exhausting day to help unwind and relax toward sleeping.

I share this sentiment. I'm actually surprised that this show made it this long. It has it's moments here and there but overall it's just not good and there's no real place for the storyline to go. Nowhere new and interesting anyway. That being said, I do the series set to record but I never think about it until I go to watch other recorded shows. Whitney serves as a good time filler or decompression before bed. And as far as TBG is concerned, I watched half of one of those episodes and thought it was by far worse than Whitney. That show is just garbage IMO. But I'm clearly in the minority on that one!

They put a leash on Witney. Its almost like she's last year's character on thorazine. Not sure I'm crazy about the bar setting and Roxanne has become somewhat one note (alcoholic or something). I still like Whitney and Alex but wish Whitney was more like last year. I see this series basically fading away. I can't believe this series is going on while Don't Trust the B
is gone and Happy Endings is on hiatus.

Well those shows are absolute garbage...

We still watch Whitney, and it has a few chuckle-worthy moments. We've noticed that it almost seems like two shows: Whitney and Alex and then The Others.

I watch it also, its not great, but to me it doesn't completely suck.

I still like the show but I'm definitely disappointed this season. I'm not ready to give up on it just yet like I did New Girl and Suburgatory, but......

I have to admit the last episode was funny. Her sister wanting/turning into a male.
... as long as one didn't think about what a man made from Natasha Leggero would be like.  The synopsis hinted too broadly and gave away that the plot was about a sex change, but I didn't know who was playing Danielle until Leggero came on screen.  I had expected someone with a build less unsuitable than Leggero's for post-operative life as a male.
Yeah, was too busy trying to figure out who it was. Love her though. lol

There was a great line near the end when Alex comes home and asks Whitney what she is making for dinner and she says: "Don't be mean."

Dare I say that the obvious casting choice would have been Erin Gibson, who is virtually a doppelgänger for Cummings, including being as tall and almost as linear?  Of course, Leggero and Cummings are longtime friends and comrades, and the main idea was to write a guest shot for Leggero.

Their voices are also similar.

Whoa. That's freaky eek.gif

Tried to like this, but with 3 unwatched episodes on my DVR and no interest in watching them, figured it was time to bail. Love you Whitney, but stick to stand up and roasts.

I have to admit... I liked last season more than this season. Some of the tweaks seem forced. I don't know if the tweaks were network-demanded or what... The only tweak that actually has had benefits... is the new guy who works at the bar who every week has to remind everyone that he was best friends with the guys... and they grew up together... as they reveal new things each week. It's like they are winking at us knowingly about how they invented his character this season and they really didn't know him before that.
