'Whitney' on NBC HD - Page 4

I like the plots and the characters. The lines are ok but it still is pacing really badly. Every other line has to be a joke and that has to be a laugh track which is horrible. They've got good ideas and the characters are good. Just trust it and stop trying to hit a home run with every line.

Removed it for good from my DVR. Can't stand the fake laughs at all. Sounds incredibly stupid. The entire show feels like people doing stand up instead of just having conversations, and the 4 non-leads are just bad.

I'm fine with that too... They're funny. I never saw a distinction between the two, felt more like a "hybrid" of stand up meets sitcom...

For those of you with Amazon Prime there's a FREE 40 minute streaming rendition of one of Whitney's comedic performances (Money Shot). Funny stuff (if you can bear listening to her voice for that long).

It's on Netflix on demand as well. I watched it about a year ago. A lot of it appears directly in the show.

As someone else posted, this show would be so much better if they just
shot 22 minutes of her stand up routine for each show.

I forgot it was even on last night, I guess that says something to me.

There wasn't an episode on last night...

It was on my menu, so must of been a repeat.

There was an episode.. but it was a repeat... the "silent treatment" episode.

I stopped watching the show, but not Whitney. She was hilarious on Thursday nights debut of Dave's Old Porn on Showtime. The special guest was Ron Jeremy.

Pretty funny episode. lol

Some mag did an interview with the male lead in which he was asked what he thought of the negative reaction to the laugh track, to which he responded it wasnt a laugh track, it was just real laughs edited and modified so as to not be distracting. Hmmm laughs being edited and modified...sounds like a laugh track. Glad they're being called out on using something that's so completely unnecessary. Why not just flash LAUGH NOW on the screen instead?

No kidding. The lapdance was priceless. I continue to love this show.

I have a season pass for the show which unfortunately is too low of a priority to get recorded often. Fortunately, for me what I have seen is very missable. I thought it was funny after my wife watched a few minutes (first time viewing) of the last show she said... I'm not getting this... For me the least of the problems is the laugh track.

Yeah, the fact that every single non-main character is awful doesn't help.

Whitney is on Letterman tonight (PST at this point...)!

There are very few good physical comedy scenes written into shows these days and this episode had two. (I noticed they are throwing some into New Girl as well) The lap-dance was hilarious and the boyfriend's contortions in his newly washed jeans were funny as well.

Dead on target. The look on her face while performing the lap dance priceless. My wife said a couple weeks ago that Whitney's style of humor in this show kind of reminds her of Lucille Ball in I love Lucy.

Another great episode tonight. This show keeps getting better and funnier. A drunk Alex should be a part of every episode.

She was hilarious....particularly in how uncomfortable she was sitting next to RJ.

Got to say the show is growing on me. Laughed out load at a few things tonight, I think the show is getting it's footing now.

I hope it gets its footing and walks on out of Thursday night. It has no business being in the same block of comedy as Community, Office, Parks and Rec, and 30 Rock. I can see it moving to Wednesday. Either that or hire new actors to play the friends, lose the lame laugh track, and hire some new writers. She and the lead actor have good chemistry but that doesnt make for a good show. They need help.
Whatever. I have a great dislike for those shows, except for 30 Rock, and if they went away I would not miss any of them. To each his own....
I don't think "to each his own " can apply in that situation. If you have a "great dislike" for Community, The Office, & Parks & Recreation, but like Whitney, there's something wrong with you. No offense.

I caught the last episode and found it much better (than before). The characters are beginning to have some definition to them.

I agree Matt ,the show is definetly finding its footing, the best episode so far..

I also agree with you that Community stinks and I would not miss it at all...
