The firmware update to resolve the Star Wars audio dropout issues was issued between spring and summer of 2010 depending on the model. Any Denon XX08CI or XX10CI networking model that has it's firmware up to date should not have this issue. Any AVR 2310CI unit that has the 3rd firmware update released Feb 2010 installed should not have the issue either. Non networking Denon models can have the issue resolved by sending them to an authorized repair facility that is capable of doing the update (as not all can so call first before shipping unless shipping to the factory repair center PanurgyOEM in NJ). This firmware upgrade is covered as an "in-warranty" repair regardless of whether your unit is still in or out of warranty.
Confirm with the repair facility before shipping otherwise they will charge you roughly $90. If they insist there is a charge, call Denon CS to have them contact that repair facility. For those Denon owners of non-networking XX08CI/X88, XX09CI/X89, or 2310CI models with a RS-232 jack (2309CI, 2310CI, 2808CI/988, and 2809CI/989), a firmware update is available for these units that you can install yourselves via a PC laptop. Note this firmware is not supported by Denon should you run in to any problems with it's installation (however, no problems are expected). Please refer to this
post for more information on how to obtain the update.
