I think one of the problems is that they haven't been making displays since 2008. It's possible (and likely) they used to have people who knew a lot more about plasma than their remaining support techs. Also, this is a problem affecting a minority of owners so it's definitely not the entire product line. Pioneer makes some solid products. But obv. this is very frustrating for those affected. BTW, I thought a different tech gave someone here instruction on resetting the panel to drop black level - so it seems like some people there have better idea what's going on than others.

Now if what that tech said is correct, I would actually try color slides. Use the 120-slide webapalooza ones and set the turnover to very quick (4-7 seconds between) and see about running for a while. Basically, he claimed that it's due to uneven refresh, so it's probably not a bad idea to push through solid color slides with varying color/shade/intensity so that it's cycling through different normal reset voltage states (i.e. within normal the expected ranges w/o actually changing the voltages).

FWIW I do not have red tint as of yet but will still give my info out for others to compare.

Called the pioneer service for the "reddish tint". They cecked the voltage values and the hours. Service couldn't fix the problem.

jowicrt, please re check both of your serial numbers. I think you have provided your assembly date and serial number, not your PDP module's serial number.

For those who can provide the PDP module's serial if you can put in a format similar to jayw547, that would be great.

This is the number on the sticker on the top right hand side of the casing, and also what the KRP reports using IP control. I can't find the other one, i tried to look into the vents but didn't see anything?

No, it doesnt for me. I've used this pattern but can not replicate any sparkles with it. I have to play some video with some moving black objects, e.q. someone's head against some background, and you will see a lot of sparkles and purple 'lag' in the (former) black area's...

will answer all your questions when i get home. I seem to be one of the few 8g elite(or non-elite) owners with this problem.

I hope this information is useful. For the last few months I have been turning on the panel first then when the black level stabilizes (2 steps) I turn on my CM7000PAL. The red shift seems to be less noticeable recently....for what that may be worth. I am probably just becoming used to the tint!

OK, I don't own a Kuro but I have to ask. With over 400 replies in this thread, is this a major flaw with the 'Mighty Kuro' or is it just that there are so many of them out there and they're starting to get old? Or is it something else?
