Samsung LED TV Series Dxx6xxx NO FULL HD IN 3D Mode - Page 2

JB which Niceguy (blurry compared to mine) 3D icon picture or thread are you looking at I just looked at Niceguys 3D icons they look just like mine right?

Would you happen to have another MPO test image you post here and I will try that also?

Thanks!
JB here is a thought I bought my 6420 from Bestbuy. I don't know if your in the US didn't see it in your profile, but JB if you are in the US and if you want to maybe ( not saying to do it ) take your test pic file and test it on a 6420 from a Bestbuy I be interested to hear your results.

I thought about this post of niceguy1234.
He gave a full description:

I hope it will work on your TV!?

On the 6th picture, you can see how the 3D icon should look like.

Ok I thought you were taking about about the three 3D icons (with the people in them) that come up when you press the 3D button.I wasn't looking at the red 3D icon till just now (was looking at the above mentioned) after looking at your thread link. I see what your saying that should be blurred then? My red 3D icon is not blurred when in 3D mode.

JB what I did was download the test mpo file from some site I surfed right to my USB drive and then pluged it into the 6420 and put the tv in 3D mode. Is there any thing I have to do to that MPO test file first like unzip or extract it before I put into the TV for it to work correctly in 3D because I am not getting a blurred red 3D icon?

Thanks for all your help because I want to see this test correctly on my TV and if I am doing something wrong I want ot know becuase I can return this set still.

BTW JB check your PM on something I feel like I might be hijacking this thread in a way and prefer not to do that.
The UNXXD6420 is able to "play" the mpo file without any problem. I did the test (UN55D6420 North American model - Firmware 1019) and I do notice that the mpo file is clearly less defined than the JPG picture. If I understand correctly I should get a better resolution (same as jpg) when I disable the 3D by pressing the "3D" labeled button on the remote. However, if I do that I do not get a better picture at all...
Can someone explain this to me? Is it possible that the problem lies only on the mpo "decoder" or maybe on the mpo file itself?

The 3D picture quality I get from 3D blu-ray (fullHD frame packed) looks quite 1080p to me. What's important here is the picture from 3D blu-ray, the other formats are quite secondary and not a real issue to me.
I found a site with other MPO 3D photos files that you can download and I did. None of them look in 3D on my Samsung TV and I made sure my TV was in 3D mode even received conformation on screen when I turned on my glasses. Can someone else try some of these MPO photos on your Samsung 3d 6xxx and post your results. TIA

Link for MPO photos/files-of course make sure you download the MPO file and not the Jpeg file at the link below.
http://travel-photo-souvenir.com/blo...-3d-galleries/

So either my TV can't display or decode MPO files in 3D per USB on the back of the TV or is it possible my 1020 FW version is the cause of this.

My Samsung (per USB stick) will play MP4 vids, AVCHD HD vids, jpeg files/ photos, and MPO files/photos but will not display the MPO files in 3D only 2D.

Hi guys,

Thanks a lot for your attention!

@Serilkath:

We noticed, that the resolution on the models 55" and 60" is a bit better, but as you can easily see, its NOT FullHD3D as its adverted.

We also checked 3D BDPs like a Samsung D6500 and a Playstation3 and so on and the resolution was reduced any time.
I'ts definetly nothing about the mpo decoder or something else. Its the TV.

The Green ear from Shrek comes from a 3D BluRay on the Samsung BDP.

Have a nice day!

Hi Rieper,

As the title says the whole D6 LED 3D Series DO NOT show Full HD Resolution in 3D Mode as it is adverted!

You're welcome to test your TV and post your experiences.

http://wiki.samygo.tv/index.php5/D6x...L_HD_3D_Defect

Here you'll find the 3D mpo testimage.

Make shure, that the 3D Icon is gettin blurry, the rest of the image has to be clear and sharp! But I predict it won't.

Best regards Jimmy

Hi,

because there are some problems to see whether 3D is active or not I edited the Testimage.

http://ul.to/lr7dk004

If your TV is in 3D Mode it has to show L on Left side and R on the right side.

If one letter is missing its not in "3D" because TV do not show both pictures.

Can someone please explain why the mpo pic is also bad when viewed in "2D mode"?
@Serilkath

The 6000er series already pointless reduces the resolution if the input signal is in 3D even if the TV has to show this signal in 2D. Nobody knows why samsung has made this goony limitation.
Shreks ear in lower part of picture in the SamyGo-Wiki was taken in 2D-mode of the TV while a samsung bluray player BD-D6500 was sending an 3D-signal from an genuine 3D-bluray to it.

Hi Reiper I am not saying my TV can do full HD 3D. I will edit my previous posts as to not to confuse others on this subject/problem.

I wish Samsung would reply on this problem/subject posted here and on the web but they have not!

These screen shoots are taken with the 60D6500 and 60D7000. It is the title menu of Shrek playing from Samsung 3D blu-ray player DB-D6500. Image from D7000 has more detail without question.

In the early lunch of the D6 series, Samsung put Full HD 3D logo on the D6 boxes, and now they put 3D logo on the box. Only the D7 and D8 have Full HD 3D logo on the box. Samsung should know what is going on by making the change. If you bought the D6 series reticently, and if you don't care about the 3D movies, then stay with what you get because it is a few hundred dollars cheaper then the D7 series. If you care about 3D movies and thinking there will be more titles coming up in the future, then you may consider return the D6 and get the D7 or D8 by spending a little more.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the replys.

Nice to hear, that you're satisfied with the D7 Series now but I think this is definetly NOT the right way to go !

Samsung adverted the D6 Series with FULLHD-3D! So it HAS TO show FULL HD 3D quality!

Im unwilling to pay money again for something I got promissed ...
Of course this is the easiest way but I will definetly NOT give Samsung more and more money!

In my opinion they have to fix the problem for D6 Series!

Otherwise I will return the TV and change the Label to Philips or Sharp or what ever...

And exactly THIS is the "right" way!

The more users care the better!

Samsung has to "feel" what they did.

I would argue that the best resolution of this problem would be for Samsung to release a firmware that fixes the problem. If I remember, someone posted that they were "artificially" lowering resolution via firmware on the D6xxx series.

I agree with you. If you purchase a early version D6 series with Full HD 3D on the box, refund and exchange period is expired, you should fight with Samsung and ask for a free upgrade. However, Samsung does not put Full HD 3D logo on the D6 series box any more. Instead it is only a 3D logo on the box now. In this case, you can ask for Full HD 3D on the D6. The only choose for new buyer is either not buying it and choose other model, or settle with the lower price with lower resolution 3D pq.

So is there any point in complaining to Samsung if you're a 6420 owner??? What are the chances of Samung releasing a "fixed" firmware update for 6 series owners??

I want FULL HD for my 3D movies nd ps3 games!!
@Rieper

No chance for a firmware fix. The hardware is too dirt-cheap for full hd 3D. By the way samsung absolutely insists "Nothing is wrong. We never said that the 6000er series can show 3D in FullHD. 'FullHD 3D' means 'FullHD TV with 3D'. Please read the specifications on our homepage". Ridiculous! They clandestine changed the descriptions after the first public exposing of this issue by Cine4Home for example.
You only can return this bluff package and buy a device by a serious manufacturer.

Samsung Germany released an official statement today telling that the resolution loss is not a bug, but a feature, that the result is kust a "minor loss in sharpness" anyway and that they therefore still see the FullHD standard as fullfilled.

And they claim that there is no official standard for FullHD or HDTV in general. Is this true, even for the USA? Does anyone know?

Samdung left the rear projection DLP owners swinging with so-called 3D Ready sets in 2008, so I doubt if anything has changed in their attitude.

Thats one of several reasons they are no longer on my hardware shopping list.

Hi Guys

FYI: The german Samsung Support gave a official statement and APPROVED that the whole D6 LED Series is UNABLE TO REPRODUCE FULLHD3D images!

They created a hotline specially for the frustrated users and offers a particular refund (100 for 40"> and 150 for 40"<)

AND there are rumors that they will offer upgrates to D7.

What about you? Did someone check his TV set?

It only takes 5 minutes to check it with the testimage.

Jimmy, do you know if Samsung USA will offer a refund/upgrade to their US customers? Thanks for keeping us posted.

PS. I believe it has been established that the US models are plagued by the same deficiency.

Sorry, I didn't see your post.

So I quote from D6xxx Tread:

"I don't know whether Samsung.com will giving refunds.

In germany we had to take Samsung under pressure by contacting different magazines.

If you want to see a report visit www.cine4home.de (try google translator)

At the moment we got responses from europe, asia and the us.
And everytime the same!"

I am in the process of trying to have my UN55D6420 refunded or upgraded in Canada.
I had a technician at home this morning to have the board replaced, without any improvement to the 3D picture quality obviously...
Samsung insist on going through the whole motion. I guess now they'll want to have the TV replaced... However the technician understood where the problem lies and wrote in his report that it is a deficiency in the model and not this specific TV.
I'll get back in touch with Samsung this afternoon to see what's their next move.

Could we have the link of the page where Samsung acknowledge the problem with the 3D image quality?
Samsung Canada doesn't want to acknowledge the problem... They say that the TV is working properly and that nothing has to be done on their part... Anyone knows how to initiate a class action in Quebec?

That seems to be the same sh... the german samsung Support is trying at the monent.

The Statement http://www.cine4home.de/tests/TVs/Sa...nt_Samsung.htm

"There is no official standard for FullHD3D and such a sh.."

In the SamyGo Forum some users got simmilar answers.

If you can: start a class action -> I think in the US you got better cards to get your right.

I bought my UN55D6400 in July 2011 & the Samsung site stated 2d & 3d in captivating FULL 1080P, now of course as we all know, it dropped it to 2d FULL 1080P and 3d capable. I still have my box, which states FULL 3D 1080P. From all the research i've done it appears Samsung won't take the blame & is having us follow-up with the retailers from which we purchased the set for refunds. Fry's, where I purchased mine, is refusing to give me a refund.

I'm so pissed I could scream. Back in July I was @ the crossroads & tryin to decide which set to get, i had it down to 3 choices: 55XBR729, 50GT30 or the D6400. I based my purchase on the fact that all of these clearly stated on the web that they can resolve 3d in Full HD, had I known what i know now, it would've been between the Sony & Panny. This is totally bogus & I'm fit to be tied................
